Do you find using wholesale directories successful?

I am thinking about listing my products in a wholesale directory, having never used one of these myself to source products I was wondering if alot of people do use them?
I dont want to pay out the money if it is a waste of time and no companies use them to source there products.

Has anyone got any advice? Have you listed your products in one with great success?

Thanks
Helen

You will find that a lot of potential buyers visit the top directories. With the number of directories out there from your point of view it would be important to concentrate on the market leaders. If you search Google for 'wholesale directory' or 'wholesale supplier directory' you will soon see who these market leaders are. I would tend to stick away from the lower end directories as buyers tend to stick with the more established operations.

If you want to expand your business then adding your name to another stream is always a good idea - It just depends what sort of value you put on this new stream. (ie; Is it right for your business? Cost effective? ect..)

Hi Helen - do people have to buy this wholesale directory to be able to read your particulars?

That's the sticking point for me, I would never pay to get the information from a wholesale directory and I have had occasion to look for wholesalers many a time. As soon as I came across a directory that insisted I pay, I just leave it alone and carry on searching the internet.

What sort of goods do you sell?
