Would you affiliate with a merchant which only had Paypal as a payment option?

    Just wondering if there was any negative perception of a merchant which only had Paypal as a payment option. I know there was negatively when you had to be a member of Paypal to make payment, but now you can accept credit cards from non-Paypal members.

    What do people think?

    If you have the correct seller account then your customers do not have to be members they can pay directly by credit card.

    I dont think there is a problem with paypal as a payment system...

    However... I tried using a credit card via Paypal recently and went round a loop a couple of times before I could work out how to do it.

    Sorry - off topic, really.

    This thread title asks about affiliates. I'd say the real concern is whether the site attracts a significant amount of traffic interested in your product, and whether the site owner is prepared to make an effort to place your ads in relevant places. Both you and the site owner have an interest in maximising click-through and conversion rates, but most site owners don't make a serious effort to do so - or don't even know how.

    PayPal as a brand/solution is not a problem, however PayPal checkout process can be a bit of a nut to crack for web customers (if you are using PayPal buttons).

    What confuses some of the users is the fact that they are offered to register with paypal before making a payment (although you dont have to) and can put some of the customers off as they simply dont see the second option of simply putting the payment through. Some of our customers (we develop and sell e-commerce software for small businesses) reckon they are loosing a some of the business because of this.

    Often people would see PayPal for use for eBay purchases or small business purchases and solutions like WorldPay carry more customer trust.

    I would.I think Paypal has come on leaps and bounds from it's old image.

    We added it to our customer's choice of payment with Worldpay a couple of months ago and we now get about 50% paying that way which means you get your money quicker !

    I also got my web guy to flag up a note at checkout saying " You don't need a PayPal account if you choose this method of payment "
