Great idea, Worldwide can be as big as Google.

    Ok you have probably heard all kinds of ideas and you probably write most of them off straight away but I have a truly amazing idea that is simple yet could prove to be a worldwide success.

    Me, im 22, very positive and I will be a millionaire by the time im 26, sounds a fairytale but the money is there, if you come up with the right idea you will get it. I have a company and a business that is just being rebuilt in another sector with an investor working on it right now. This however excites me very much but I am going to need an Investor for this, someone serious.

    Cant give to much away as im in the process of getting a patent. Its going to be a website that will eventually hold 60million contacts and will allow you to find old friends within 20 seconds, cutting out phone books, sites and memberships. This has not been done anywhere else and even if you think it has, it hasnt! Its 100% unique, no sign ups, no memberships, no fees to join. We will make our money out of advertising when we are a global brand. I think we may need in the region of 50k or whatever we need to advertise this site from scratch. Anyone in the know how of good successful advertising would be an advantage. Please email me for more details asap.

    Hi Patrick - welcome to UKBF.

    Sounds like big plans you have there - quite often I imagine myself infront of the dragons of 'Dragons Den' tv program and them giving me a grilling picking faults and making me think clearer about stuff.

    It seemed your post was a little like that :)

    No its ok, thanks anyway,

    Going on the friends re-united thing,

    My idea is different,

    Firstly you dont have to join, filling in forms, waiting for passwords and then even paying for more messages, then you are not even guaranteed about finding that person. Im not saying i can guarantee to find the person but you will soon find out in 20 seconds and with the exposure i want anything can happen,
    secondly its not only old friends but companies, sports clubs, going out, etc...

    Well it sounds interesting, but just be careful about Friends Reunited, they are a competitor by the sounds of it, and a well established one.

    I was going to ask how are you going to get the Databases of people and clubs etc without sign-ups since Friends Reunited relies on everyone to come to them which saves possibly months of work and money. But that could be giving away your secret so if you don't want to answer then that's ok.

    However if you're a millionaire by your mid-twenties seems like you know what you're doing so stick at it :)

    PS: Your profile says you're 23, don't know if that's a mistake or not.

    Excellent idea, good to check out some of the competitors out there like friends reunited and Linked in. If they can do it so can you.

    However I hope you have done your market research, this would be essential for anyone to invest in you.

    Seriously though - I do "sit" on a dragons-den style panel for a funding body (http://www.ideasmart.org/) and the urge to pretend I'm an angry rude Duncan Bannatyne is very strong.... ;)

    Sounds like a really good idea, but you really must do your homework! Get lots of feedback from those who are likely to give you a real opinion such as the advertisers that you are looking to gain. Also look at making sure that you reasearch your competitors... and I mean really research them. Too many website ideas come and go and to a financier it is the absolute riskiest form of investment. So if you wanna convince them do your sums!

    Well I hope you succeed and your enthusiasm really leaps from the monitor.

    I am concerned that your idea won't fly. For instance, I would not want my contact details on such a place for fear of all the spammy rubbish that would come flooding through my inbox and door as a result. How are you going to stop it being abused?

    I think, if you intend it to be used to find businesses, it already exists - it's called either Yellow pages or, in fact, the internet.

    It sounds as though it relies on having 60 million contacts - where are you going to get these?

    Honestly, at the moment it sounds like a search engine with a telephone directory tacked on. Both things are already available.

    If it is truly different and original, you need get the thing branded and protected as soon as possible, throughout the world, bearing in mind you cannot copyright an idea.

    ... And it wont patent once you've shared any detail of the concept.

    My thoughts is their anything new in the world - not really - everything already exists - all one can aim for is to do it better than others (and hope for a great deal of luck).

    Global is V. Expensive. Webit.net when was a UK service cost a bucket of money to promote - now it's worldwide it requires a bigger bucket.

    Again - as always I'm more than happy to be proved wrong.

    From the clues you've given the secret to your success is going to be you database, where are you going to get all that data from? isn't it going to cost a fortune?
    Friends reunited got their users to build the database, as its in the users interest to sign up.

    My advice would be to take the idea as far as you can on your own finances, when/if it takes off investors will be knocking at your door (rather than you banging your head against theirs)

    I make a living from tracing people and there are plenty of websites that conduct this service already some are free some are not. They all have their pitfalls including friends reunited. A little competition wont do them any harm. Congratulations on your passion and good luck with your venture.
