sometimes its even less that 15 seconds..
a lot of our visitors used to stay 4 seconds on the page and quickly leave.. as soon as we re-designed our main homepage they started navigating more and actually emailing us for enquiries...

i like the article, really helpful.. thanks

Very good article. Mind you, the figure I've always heard is seven seconds.

I think someone just makes these numbers up, you know.

yes, I remember a funny comment by Steven Krug in his book on usability called Don't Make me Think - he compared reading websites to billboards going past you at 100 mph...
