PayPal bookkeeping - net transactions doesn't equal balance..

Guys, am I missing something...

I downloaded the log of PayPal for the last 6 months.

The balance from log matches balance in PayPal. For example say 10k

Now when I add the net amount colunm up, I get 30k?

How is this? Ive spent the last 4 hours and cant figure out whats going on.. the total net or gross colunm dont even come close to the balance..

I looked deeper and there are some transactions that don't effect the balance, but these only come to 10k...

Craziness is stressing me out, any ideas?

I don't suppose you can post an example? screen shot or something?

I assume your accounting for Paypal charges. SO im not sure what could affect the balance so much..

Accounting for PayPal charges --- no idea what you mean by this...

In paypal when you download history log it shows you every transaction from PayPal...

IT has many colunms but the 4 im talking about are:

Grosss --- Fee --- Net --- Balance

Now the remainign balance in PayPal is 10k, but when I add together the whole 'net colunm', its 30k, should the net colunm equal the balance colunm...

So I thought perhaps maybe some transactions didnt effect balance, so I found these, which only equal 10k... still doesnt match

extremely confused

When I mean charges i meant "fee" so yeah evidently your accounting for it.

Where are you seeing this?
History > Reports > Monthly Sales Report > Month....

if so then Im not sure if we can help

id suggest talking to paypal if your balances are not matching up.
( Our's look ok and match our in and out.. )

So either something is very wrong or your accounting has gone amiss..

Again,
Id suggest phoning them they are normally pretty good on the phone.

Check the right-hand column that has Debit/Credit/Memo in it. You don't want any "Memo" transactions included in your total.

You need to watch things like chargebacks, currency conversions, reversals, echeques and so on. All of those can make simple adding up of the transactions pointless, because of the way that Paypal records them.
