Hi,

Im looking into Velocity Pay, they dont seem to expensive at all compared to WorldPay

Is anyone using them here? Any problems etc - Do they support recurring billing?

Cheers,

Carl

Hi Carl,

I can't see they support recurring billing - they also seem to use a bit of a cheap ssl cert on their site - surprising for a merchant account provider - I'd also say they are quite a young company (merchant accounts since late 2005)

They maybe totally ok and I'm going to add them to my bookmarks - but I guess I'm unsure of them at the moment (like you)

Also you may consider to look with chronopay/standardpay, I hope their charges are quite affordable comparatively.

Emailed ChronoPay over a week ago, still no reply.

Velocity Pay seem really fast at replying to emails which is a good thing.. :)

I used VP for a while but ended up dumping them as the system didn't work that well with Helm which I know you use Carl.

The admin area is poor as well with not particularly detailed reports.

Also seriously annoyed me that they continued to charge the monthly fee for three months after my cancellation!

Oh - What sort of problems did you have with Helm & VP?

Thanks,

Basically dealing with the auto billing and also switch cards although I think the latter has been fixed now in 3.2.10

It was a temper mental fault that didn't happen all the time. VP blamed WHA, WHA blamed VP, I gave up and went back to Protx :)

I won't be using auto-billing anyway no chance with Helm, too risky. Possibly may use it with Helm 4. :D

I highly recommend Velocity Pay, especially if you are looking for the full Merchant Account.

Pricing is good and the support levels are excellent.

The Management System was a bit bare too start with but has improved dramatically over the last few months.

Any problems with Helm would simply have been down to WHA because Velocity provide the Integration docs and gateway etc but do not actually produce any integration code.

The inteagration is good though and designed that basically any system can literally be integrated with velocity.

Thanks, so they seems to be fixed opinions about it...

Shame theres no online demo of the management system. Do you know how long they keep hold of the money for i.e. when can it be transferred into our bank account?

Thanks,

Within minutes of aplying for an account, you will have a test account created. This gives you access to the MMS where you can actually test out the system with your particular setup, if supported.

This is set indivdually. You can have the payouts set daily, weekly, monthly.

Blimey that is good, some processors keep your money for weeks and wont let you release it until you get a certain amount!

Aaah - there is a minimum payout level which is usually set at £100.

Oh ok, thats quite low anyway.
I know - that's why I forgot about it.

The good thing about applying for a velocity account is that you cn really test the sysetm without committing yourself.

Part of the application process requires paper contracts being sent to them by registered post. This means that effectively, you can try out the system with test orders (using test cc numbers) and see if the system is for you or not.

If you don't like it - you simply don't send away the contracts. :)

VP sounds really good as you get a full merchant account, something you cant do yourself if your a start up.

What fees are they charging for their merchant account? It doesn't detail the fees on their site.

Thanks,

Darrell

I decided to proceed with VelocityPay. I got my contract through earlier (very complicated!)

Anyway, I was under the impression I could accept all card types. My contract shows (Visa, V Electron, Mastercard). I also chose the Maestro option during signup.

Now does Maestro include switch/solo? I've contacted VP too but I'll probably get a faster response here. ;)

Thanks,

Depends on the PSP. Some of them do one setting for Switch/Maestro/Solo and others split Solo and Switch/Maestro :)

If you have maestro enabled then you can also process Switch and Solo.
