Best sites for free photos/clipart

I'm designing my own website, and need some ffee photos and clipart.
If my site looks OK, I may do websites for other people - and will need more photo's.

Are there any good sites?

I can get you 2 weeks free membership to one of the stock photo websites, if interested. Was saving it for myself but did not get to it...

why not use bing.com to search for your desire project image.
Thats what i use.

that will not be a good option...the result may contain copyrighted images too..

I assume having identified an image you would like to use, you contact the copyright owner and agree terms?

Why free? Do you place such little value in your business that you won't pay a couple of pounds for some decent images.

+1 for sxc.hu.

We recommend our customers to give this a go first. The quality and range of images can sometimes be limited however.

If you can't find a suitable image we recommend istockphoto.

As Woom says, that is a very bad idea. Copyright protects images on the web so, unless you have permission to use them, the copyright owner can take action against you.

Have you checked out Fotolia ? They sell professional images for relatively inexpensive "credits".

Graphicriver.net is good for design elements. Istockphoto.com is good but it's hard to the cheaper images now that Getty has taken over.

It sure is, you just need to register. The site does throw a lot of pictures at you that cost from istockphoto to try and get you to pay for them but they have thousands of free ones.

They are not free for commercial use as far as im aware.

I stock is the daddy but so expensive to be honest in my opinion, and not only that if you buy and image and you want to use the same image elsewhere you should buy it again.

I fail to see how anyone can tell if you nick istock images off other websites, i have before. I would just delete it and cock a deafen if anyone tried to prosecute me
