Whether you can claim working tax credits will depend on your circumstances.
Assuming that you will usually work for 16 hours/week or more and expect to work for at least four weeks, you need to be one of the following to qualify:

- aged 16 or over and responsible for at least one child, or
- aged 16 or over and disabled, or
- aged 25 or over and usually work at least 30 hours a week
- aged 50 or over must have been unemployed and in receipt of benefits for 6 months leading up to the claim and work 16 hours per week or more
- aged 60 or over and work 16 hours per week or more

Hi,
Excellent explanation. Wondering if Im in reciept of Disabiltiy Living Allowance, will that continue when I start my Self Employment and on WTC issue, being divorced, would I qualify for both Basic Element of Working Tax Credit and the Disability Element also? Im not physically disabled but a slow learner or mentally challanged I believe is the new term.
