Hi. I need some advice on linking my website to google's search engine. Essentially, I want certain key words to be linked to my company. I have purchased my domain name through Tsohost and site was created through google sites. Both are linked and work fine. It's just the key word search that needs sorting. Any advice gratefully received.

Hi,

Can you please clarify if you want a search engine to search your own website, or you want to get better ranking for your keywords?

As above, do you mean you want to use the Google powered search tool and make it your site only?

You need SEO and link-building for your website. Correct?

Essentially, when someone enters the product and say London in the google search engine, I'd like my company to come out in the search results. I heard that putting certain key words in the title page ensures it gets picked up but am at a loss as to how to do it.

You need SEO and link-building services or you need a consultant to explain where your own efforts should be concentrated.

Hi Leson, what you're describing is called "search engine optimization"(SEO) and there's an entire industry dedicated to it! There are two sides to it

1) Onsite SEO. This is changes you can make to your website to improve your rankings. Page title is important, as are location and content of the HTML 'header' tags. These require a small amount of HTML knowledge to implement but are quite simple to do. There are many other factors which help, for example, make sure your site doesn't have code errors and loads quickly, and have "search engine friendly page URLs. There are also lots of more subtle things you can do, like keep a blog to ensure content is fresh.

2) Offsite SEO. This is the innovation that made Google the dominant search engine. Basically, links to your site count as 'votes', which help push you up the search rankings. However, not all links are equal, and if you take short cuts you may get penalized by Google for link spamming. Google is constantly adjusting its algorithms to try to make it harder for people to just pay someone x per month to spread their website address high and wide.

Feel free to PM your website and I will happily take a look.
