Phone Chuggers targetting businesses

We seem to be getting a rash of charity muggers (aka "Chuggers") phoning us wanting to either take an advert in a community publication of contribute to the cost of various schemes such as drug awareness. I must admit the cynic in me is unconvinced that some of these are kosher.

Anyone getting the same and if so, how do you deal with them (i.e. politely telling them to go away).

It doesn't take long to identify what they are up to, so I simply interrupt, confirm that they are trying to sell advertising and then tell them no.

Many of them aren't kosher. There have been numerous threads on here from people who paid for adverts in charity/good cause magazines only to find out that they either never came out or that there were hardly any copies distributed and thus the adverts were a waste of money.

I get these calls nearly every single day, mainly from 0161 numbers.

Indeed - which is why I don't like to be rude to any telesales people. At least they are keeping themselves out of the benefits office.
