I am always disappointed when I search for my business by it's name that other recruitment comopanies come up first just because they have the same letters in as mine. My website was on page 12 and yet my business comes straight to the top but via applegate.

Does anyone else experience this?

Also, does anyone have any tips on how to improve your search engine rankings? As cheap as possible of course.
 
Hi you might want to buy a copy of Web Position Gold a very usefiul tool!!

Alternatively I do offer a SEO service but I am afraid it is not "cheap" sorry.

Most business names are pretty unique, plus the owner tends to have their business name in the URL. This way you are pretty certain to get top spot - or close to it.

There are tons of threads on here to start gaining better search engine placements........if you PM me your website I'll send you across some pointers.

Darren, thanks for your honesty. In the future (ie when I am making more money) I am wanting to invest more into my website to use it as a better marketing tool so I will most probably give you a shout. I'm the king of person who either buys locally or from who I like or have been recommended too.

Apart from that it's really crap at seo too. Don't waste your money on it.

Web pos gold 4 is a good product for analysing and determining positions etc etc, I have used it successfully for years. Just my opinion and as they say opinions are like ass**** everyone has got one LOL

If ran with a download of the google API then you have no problems submitting at the correct and accurate page numbers and intervals for google.

Although I would recommend the use of google site maps once the correct coding has been implemented for each keyword for each search engine.

Our service is very good and well for 10 pages and keywords monitored and adjusted for a 12 month period I would say very reasonably priced. Based on what you would achieve from a PPC campaign or a 10 keyword organic promotion, yeilds in the longer term on ROI would be very much better.

Here's the full paragraph off Googles site (I only quoted a snippet earlier)

"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

My concern was that you were recommending the purchase of software to someone who may not have known of the issues involved through using such software 'prior' to buying it.

Hi freefall -

Without seeing your website it is difficult to judge. But the very least I would recommend for you to stand a chance of being found for your business name are:

1. Your business name in your title tag
2. Your business name in your home page onpage Title which ideally should be a <h1> title.
3. Your business name would need to be 1 - 2 internal link texts within this page.
4. Your page must be spiderable.
5. Depending on how much competition there is for your business name (if it is a generic name there will of course be more) you should ensure there are at least 250 words on the page.
6. You need to start exchanging links with good quality, relevant websites using the phrase you wish to target as the link text for such links.
