Search engine ranking gobblers

Sorry for the title, I was trying to be as descriptive as possible!

Sometimes when you search, one site occupies multiple consecutive positions in the SERPs. For example, searching for:

team building oxford

has City Challenge at positions one and two. Does anyone know what the criteria is for "joining" two pages together like this.

Is there any way to get more than 2 consecutive listings, or am I being greedy?

I am certainly no expert on SEO but my Horsham Forum site currently holds the first 5 positions on MSN for the term Horsham Forum. This seems to be because I have 4 different domains pointing to the site. I have only ever promoted horshamforum.com but MSN has picked up on the other domains. horshamforum.com is also number 1 on Google but Google has ignored the other domains.

Sorry it doesn't really answer your question. My 'gobbling' is more by accident than design.

This occurs when multiple pages within your site are on topic for the search term, for an example see below...

http://search.msn.co.uk/results.aspx?q=ebusiness+cumbria&FORM=QBRE

There is a way to get more than a couple of listings, make the content of your site consistently match the search terms across multiple pages. Simple to describe, maybe diffcult to achieve (depending on your site's content).

A word of warning, it's best not to "over-optimise" the content, as you can make it too spammy. Remember that your audience is your end customer as well as the search engines.
