Been a trooper myself today. knuckled down with my CSS and transforming my dull Links into a Menu.

What do u think so far ?

In Firefox, menu is better as the Hover over turns a Goldy colour to match my Logo. so obviously still some compatibility issues. overall fairly consistent.

Anyway just wondering about the Menu.I use php Include to generate it and CSS for everything else. All opinions welcome, work in progress

PS All the linked pages need transforming to suit my new Design once I have my structure and frontpage design so im happy with them.

I shall be 100% honest as I am sure you would prefer that if it led to a more successful site in the long term, the logo is great, the site is very poor.

You could have a fantastic looking site based around that logo. I appreciate you are doing the site at the same time as learning but having everything in those bland boxes looks amateur.

Yes I am picky and it is just my opinion so don't be offended. How about paying someone to come up with a concept design and you build the site with that? That way you are saving a shed load on doing the build yourself.

£50/£100 for that isn't a lot when you consider the time it would save you in the long run

Yes what you have done looks better.

Your page is too wide for a 800x600 browser (otherwise known as 45% of the internet)
I second hot igloo, ask for tenders to to fit in with your budget and get someone else to do it for you.
Lousy domain name, almost not worth investing any time or money in.
Great logo, ... looks familiar.

my 2 cents.

Good luck with it.

Quite a few negative points there.

Getting someone else to do the Site, well its would be very difficult to get my point across on what I want to have it looking like when Im only just learning what is possible. and if people dont like how it looks now, well its a big knock.
Anyone recommend anyone who is fairly cheap and can knock up a good design and structure, which I could then develop myself?

My theory was the get the Homepage setup and then keep the exact same Layout for each and every Content Page, meaning it would be consistent and easily Maintained and developed.

Not sure what to do if my name & efforts dont seem to get any good feedback.

Why not just look at other websites to gain an idea? There's almost always someone better than you out there who has already thought of the idea. Once a designer has an understanding of your requirements, you shouldn't find it a problem.

Don't be too dissapointed. One of the (many) great things about this forum is you'll get honest feedback. Eveyone telling you it's great when it's actually not very good would be of no use to you whatsoever.

I agree with the above. The logo is great. Domain name could do with being changed but I don't think it's that big of a deal if you are mainly marketting online.

Try speaking to Jacqui at www.creacomdesign.com about having a page/image designed for you to work with.

I think it's a pretty good start. Yes, it could use a little more design, but the bones are there. I might be able to help you a little with the design troublefree. I do agree the name is a bit cumbersome tho.

Contact me if you'd like some help.

Oops, guess I can't give out contact info until I've made 15 posts, so PM me? Or post your email address so I can contact you. :)

It certainly is a learning process. There are a lot of free templates available on the web. You could implement one of those in no time.
Someone here can point you to a few I am sure. Definately worth a look for a quick, quality site.

You are right about getting something online a.s.a.p, always helps to get the search engines started on something.

Good luck with your site

James.
