Has anyone used UK Mail courier services before ???

NIGHTMARE !!!

Had an account with these guys when they were Business post, and they were terrible then.

I run a small furniture company selling flat packed furniture across the uk, Items were often damaged, and lost. I managed to track down several of our lost items to an ebay seller in Bristol which apparently is an auction house selling (apparently) lost items from Business post. The amazing part of all this is our web address is printed in 20cm high letters all over a 160cm box with return address instructions inside.

What I found even more unbelievable was the fact the auction seller copied all our text and pictures from our website to advertised the lost item they were (apparently) selling on behalf of their supplier (Business Post).

I delved deeper into the seller on ebay to find a few thousand feedback score, listing high end computer systems and electrical goods (apparently) lost !!

I think after many months of failure to deliver because courier ran out of time, lost items, damaged items sent to my customers and even full vans sent to my business unable to even collect ??? I switched to UPS - I have used this company for nearly 12 months now and have not had a single complaint.

I wish i could say the same for UK Mail only im frustrated to the point of writing this due to them failing to yet again deliver a computer to me despite telling me "4 times today" it will be with me before 6pm, resulting in another whole day waisted.

Just hope its not on ebay tonight ey.

UK MAIL - The worst i ever dealt with !

What an absolute sham!!

Out of curiosity, did you ever contact the eBay seller? Or ask them why your items are being sold on?

Funny you should ask, YES i did, I traced the account back to a lady (if I remember correctly her name was Andrea or Ange at City Auctioneers in Bristol), I spoke to her and demanded an answer to why my goods were being sold as lost property even though they had copied all content about the product from my website.

The lady completely closed up on me and reffered me back to Business post as they were the supplier, she did admit however that percentage of the profit was directed back to the supplier.

I was fuming, I informed her that i was going to contact the police as i have done a few checks into the ebay seller, those who have traded on ebay will notice that you can go into a traders feedback and view items sold. I went into quite a few and viewed items listed as mentioned these were computer systems and all sorts, some real high end gear being sold as lost property.

I brought this to the woman's attention, and also the police. The same day the traders name was changed on ebay it was a nightmare trying to find the same trader - however, digging about and a little persistence soon revealed them.

Im going to search my old hard drive and see if i can bring up the notes i kept when running searches on the company and the ebay trader. I would suggest anyone to look at items sold if you have ever lost anything with this company as there may be a possibility you may find them - HOWEVER, the trader started to list all items as private from that point on so you can only see value of item sold.

Put me right if I'm wrong. But if a carrier has lost goods and then paid you for those goods. They have actually bought the Items off you and can do what they like with them.

So reselling the Items once found is not an issue. They are just trying to reclaim losses.

However IF they are awarding compensation then I believe you would still be the owner of the goods.

As for ebay make a note of the seller and every couple of days check under the sellers other items and screen print the list save it to a Pdf or similier then you have a record for future watchdog/police or for us.

If you PM me the sellers details I can get some clever bods to do some digging and see what we can come up with.:D

Thanks for your reply, though point being money was not refunded at point of sale so goods were put on sale before claims initiated. Also thought it was a bit of a micky taker copying all images and text from website thus infringing copyright laws and also advertising a product as lost when they have full address details of company sent packed inside and advertised all over the box sent ???

thank you for your offer scouring hard drive to find traders details, im sure i have copied a lot of the traders sales previously.

will update

While I don't disagree that UK Mail are quite poor, you story doesn't make much sense and is full of holes.

This happened over 12 months ago, yet you rant about them now? And you join the forum with the sole purpose of ranting about them?

You would have received compensation for the lost parcels, so what happens to them after that is irrelevant, no?

Hi sysops

I can assure you these are facts, the reason for the outburst yesterday is simply, yet again being on the receiving end of their rather poor service over the past 2 days, this time as a customer.

Being paid for the items is nice although how do you measure the damage done to business reputation when a customer orders goods and you have to tell them that the courier has lost them?

Are UK Mail head office actually aware of this happening or is it a rogue depot?

E.G. Rogue depot pretends to lose items > UK Mail head office pays out compensation > staff auction items via local auctioneer > staff receive profits not UK Mail...?

We have been using these people for a long time now but we just had the final straw.

For the last 2 months they have been missing collections, missing deliveries and generally messing up, but last Thursday they collected several parcels from us to go to three different places within the uk.

Bearing in mind they are a next day delivery company, we had all three customers calling late on Friday saying nothing arrived. Two of them rearranged for delivery on sat after the mail company confirmed they were all sent to the wrong depots.

They DID NOT arrive on sat.....

So this morning they are saying someone? changed the paperwork to Monday(today) and it will be delivered tomorrow!!

We are now letting down three separate company's waiting for these parts they need to be installed today!

We are terminating our contract with them this week...

We binned ukmail about 2 months ago for Fedex uk (what was anc) there service just doesn't exist. Best one for me was a collection of nearly 100 parcels collected and then delivered to butchers shops instead of the schools they where intended for.

So far Fedex have been good. but time will tell, have sent nearly 1000 shipments out of the last 3 weeks and all seem to have got there okay so far.

i think theres good an bad in them all. we had a fantastic driver who never let us down, he left they used agency etc and it went to poo.

used them for 2 years with plenty of little issues, some good support from sales rep initally but fell away.

Have used TNT in the past great but expensive and was willing to scarifice some service for price hense the move to ukmail. and now to fedex.

We also used DHL (old SOE now yodel) and had nothing but trouble stopped using them for my warehouse about 5 years ago and our other one only this year.
