Very quick update as I need to get this news out ...

You remember the case of Mr and Mrs Pearn ...

http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=179438

Well Mr Pearn has just told me that the £2,000 of underpaid tax has been written off. He says ....

“We won with yours and Nigel’s help. You cannot believe what a weight this off my shoulders and we are so grateful that you were there with the net when we needed it!”

More soon on what this means for others.

Thank you Bob - we are trying to drum up some press / media interest.

With the cases seen like this so far the majority should have ESC applied.

Now it wouldn't be for me to say that HMRC are acting beyond their powers here, trying to bully people into paying and are not applying their rules fairly.

Has some new bonus scheme been introduced?

Rest assured I continue to bang the drum for what is right.

HMRC will have to listen at some point.

I hope it is before I have written 1,399,999 more letters!!!

I had the feeling as soon as I saw your initial posts about Mrs P that HMRC were on unsafe ground.

I wish I had placed a bet on the outcome now!

You would have got Jeremy Vine interested in it, I'm sure. His radio 2 lunchtime programme is like a temple to Mr and Mrs UK's sense of moral indignation.

Does the lack of any further updates to this thread mean that no other cases have been won?

If you look at another thread it seems that HMRC have a huge back log cases.

No surprise there!

We are awaiting replies to all of our cases - so we haven't lost or won anything further as yet!
