I know this is going to make me sound like a bit of an arse, but I have to ask: if the position is for a trainee internet 'marketer', why isn't marketing knowledge/experience an essential requirement? :) If you were advertising for a junior doctor, one of the key requirements would be "must have completed and passed medical training" - why is marketing, or any other profession, any different?

Sorry. Not trying to stir up a hornet's nest or anything - I'm genuinely interested :)

Hi,

Very simply because this is a trainee position and people can pick up some very 'bad habits' with internet marketing. From experience, I have always found it more effective to train people who have the right base skillsets and allow them to learn gradually on internal projects prior to them being experienced and skilled enough to work client-side.

Hope that helps :)
