    Hi All,

    I have been running The Small Business Help Centre since late last year and in general things are going really well.

    since then i was approached by a freind who wanted to set up his own Help Centre using our branding and site structure for the entertainment industry. This is currently in development and should be live in the next few weeks

    My question is this... Would a "set up your own Help Centre" as a home based business be a viable option?

    We make your site live and give you all the admin access etc and you pay a set monthly fee. You can then include any content you wish on a free or paid for basis and take all advertising revenues. You could then have your own hobby or business portal and earn revenues

    Our benefit (other than the monthly fee) is The Help Centre as a whole becomes a recognised brand for helping people from all walks of life not just business people

    Any thoughts??

    Have taken a look at your website - it loads painfully slow for me. You do not seem to deliver what I expected your name to suggests - business help. It just outsourced services and there is a lot of that about.

    Nevertheless, the idea may be franchisable? however what you seem to be offering does not seem to have locallity contraints. so why would one need a similar offering somewhere else? other than your mate who is becoming sector specific.

    I think it could be a viable option. If it will have a clear association with your enterprise it may be necessary to vet the applicants to ensure they have the credentials to provide help in the area they are preposing. Whilst a contract will protect you legally for mis-advice given by the other centres your reputation could be damaged if one of your sister centres are spouting spurious advice.

    Hi Del,

    If it was me, I'd slow down a bit and concentrate on your main site for a little bit. Too much too soon and something is going to suffer or you will overload on work and crack up.

    It not a bad idea, but it will take a lot of organising and research first and do you really have the time for that?.

    thank you all for your comments. does give me something to think about :shock:

    i do agree with the comments from duane and jayne that maybe i should slow down a little. sometimes i run away with myself to say the least!!

    (i even have projects i am involved with or invest in that never even get mentioned on here)

    i also agree that i do run the risk of "joe bloggs plumbing help centre" offering bogus advice that damages our brand so that would take careful consideration

    i will probably back burner this project and concentrate on brand awareness for The Small Business Help Centre and Small Business Awards for now

    thank you all - this is why forums work because by bouncing ideas off other people can bring you back down to earth a little. i would sooner ask for advice on business direction etc from people here than from staff. people who have no vested interest in the business can be more objective
