Cuddly Toys / Where to sell?

    Hi there

    My mum has been selling "russ" cuddly toys/bears etc for a few years now, she has decided to retire and has quite a bit of stock left over, as she has purchased in bulk in the past she has managed to secure good prices and would be happy to get rid of the stock at cost. The mark up on the stock is roughly 50%

    All of the bears are brand new with tags, fantastic quality, and a few being limited editions with certificates.

    My question is, what and where is the best way to sell this left over stock, ebay?
    She no longer has a shop front so needs another way.

    It's not worht setting up a shop for a bunch of one off stock so eBay would certainly be my way forward if you can be bothered to send them out one at a time. Or you could sell them in a big bunch.

    If you just want to be shot of it just get your yellow pages and ring round the independent shops, garden centres, hospital shops, price it at cost and sell as a job lot.

    I have put a couple on ebay, the problem is some people are selling the same stuff at a starting price of 99p, some of the bears cost us £20 to buy (limited editions with certificates) and we would need that just to break even. We cannot take the chance of listing at such a low price just incase the £20 was not reached (the minimum reserve price is £50).

    CHRIS: We have some traditional teddies too, I think you may be interested in some of this stuff, we are by Whitchurch not so many miles away from Liverpool if you fancy a drive sometime, nice coffee bar here too so a cappucino would be on the house ;-)

    The starting price is immaterial if the end price is high. If you set the starting price too high no one will be interested.

    The main problem with Ebay is competition from people who are not paying any tax or have any overheads.

    Watch the sale of the same products and see what the sell prices come out at. And don't forget to list the teddies really well as this effects the price a lot.
