Qwertz not Qwerty

Can anyone help please

I bought a new keyboard today but it's a german style keyboard ie it's a qwertz instead of a qwerty but when I have plugged it in my computer reads it as a qwerty meaning that my Z is a Y and my Y is a Z plus the symbols are not where they seem to appear on my keyboard. I know that somewhere onmy computer I can change this but I cannot remember how. Can someone help please.

change to whatever language you want.

Although why on earth you would want to change that away from what you are used to I don't know.

I tried it in the control panel but then I couldn't change it to the keyboard style I want.

The reason I want to change it is because my Z is my Z key and my Y is a Z key. It's all muddled up plus my @ sign is showing on my keyboard as being on number 2 but infact it's at the other end of the keyboard.

Does that make sense :lol:

ok hang on, your keyboard has the printing on the keys incorrect (incorrect compared to a uk keyboard)? if that is the case, then all you can do is physically swap the keys around, or configure your keyboard as mentioned to German, that said, if it is not a standard German keyboard then some keys will still be out of place, just the same as if you buy a £1.99 keyboard off the market here.
WHY did you buy a german keyboard? if you need ú é etc you can gt them with alt/gr

I had to buy a German keyboard as I live in Switzerland. :lol:

The keyboard I bought lights up in the dark and everyfin. Well cool but some of my keys are the wrong way around. All I need to do is configure it to the German style and all will be well but Control Panel the Keyboard doesn't allow me to do that :cry:

You need to:

i) Physically switch the keys caps around (at least the letter keys).

ii) Go ino the Control Panel and select "Options Régionales et linguistiques" (sorry, my computer's in French). On one of the tabs there's a "Details" button that let's you select the keyboard language.

Done. When I type on a my keyboard and it's functions work in the German order now so thank you so much for your help.
