affiliate schemes a good way of link building?

    hi all,

    I was just wondering if this is an effective method of link building, as I recently signed up to an affiliate scheme at Contraccounts, and they provide you with a link, and suggest you post the links around forums etc...
    I was thinking that the contraccounts' affiliates will effectively be link building, now is this is good method to get inbound links? or is there a catch? as I was thinking of creating an affiliate scheme for my site, it may be worth looking into

    Those kind of links will be counted as a back-link for a period of time. The problem is that they are still classed as a paid link so will be discounted over time.
    The fact that they contain the word affiliate would probably mean they get filtered out fairly quickly. So it's a link building strategy built on sand.
