The days are long gone when the number of competing pages could be used as a useful measure of competition in the search engine results.
Using the "allintitle" syntax in Google (as others have mentioned) will help give you an idea of how many sites are competing for a particular search phrase, but this isn't particularly helpful for finding out how easy it will be to rank highly.
Quite simply, the only way to find out how easily you can rank on Google page one, is to look at the other websites already ranked there in more detail.
Even if the competition turns out to be low enough for you to consider trying to reach page one, this will all be worthless if there isn't the volume of searches per day to make whatever product or service you intend to promote successful.
Are you sure 1 or 2 visitors per day is going to be enough?
