trademarking a 'slogun'

I am helping a friend launch a little veture which will sell t-shirtrs bearing a humerous slogun and design. It's totally low end of the market and different from what I usually do...but as the whole thing put a smile on even my face I think it might actually be quite good....actually it reminded me how nice it is to laugh at silly things once in a while. I wondered if anyone knows whether a slogun or catch phrase can be protected in anyway, no massive budget so maybe we will just have to buy the domain name and hope for the best.

What was £30?

The official fee for filing a UK trade mark application in one class is £200 for 10 years protection and we charge the same for our work in advising on, preparing, filing and reporting the application.

Compared on an annual basis, it works out as less than your house insurance.

Just something I read in Beermat Entrepreneur (or was it that Dragons Den book?). I'll check again.
