Can anyone shed light on the following...

I have keywords with exact phrase match, i then have the keywords in the title of my ad. I will get 4 or 5 impressions with that keyword and my average position (according to google) is 1, and yet i don't get any clicks.

How can people type in a keyword, have an ad appear at the top of the page with that same word/words they were searching for and not click on the ad?

maybe your ad text is poor and the description is not relevant to the keyword.

maybe your display url can be improved?

Because you are competing with natural results and other ads.

As a very rough guide I'd say that you'll get maybe 4 to 8 clicks per 100 impressions - so wait until you have enough impressions to make a calculated judgement.

As above says you can improve your performance by trying different ads and keywords.

Easy. Your ad might not be engaging enough, or the ad below you might be more engaging. Most people who are going to click a link will click only one link on the results page. The fact that your ad is closest to the top does not mean it's the one that will be clicked.

The ad is simple, but it does offer exactly what is being searched for and with the same keywords in the title it is a strong ad. So a weak ad doesnt really explain it, also it is not the most competitive of industries.

My point is you have the same words they typed in your title, and your at the top?

Could it be that people are put off by sponsored ads?

If it's a local business then make sure that you advertise that EG 'Suffolk furniture repair'. If its national then advertise that fact. I guess that most people will search for a local furniture company for a repair, so you may be top for the keyword 'furniture repair' and based in Devon but the search could be 'London furniture repair'. Don't panic as you only pay for clicks and you want those to be relevant ones.

Some good points, i have the locality covered. I am just outside London and actually put for ex 'furniture repair London' as the title, which as i say is the search word that has been typed in. Also have a geographic number for when they do land on the site it all flows.

I dont expect to get a 100% ctr, but higher than i currently am. But like i said it could be the fact that its a sponsored ad, but how many people care about that.
