Hi,

Even though my wholesale jewellery website is meant for Uk customers, recently I have been getting a lot of queries from people outside of Uk, like, Spain, France, Cyprus, etc. and this has made me think may be I should start catering to the European Market too.

I was just wondering, if I need to do that, what sort of legal requirements would I need to meet and what sort of other complications are involved? All our orders are sent through post.

Thanks
Ash

Those countries are part of the single market- you can sell to them no problems.

You're a wholesaler right? So you don't charge them VAT but you need to have their equivalent of a VAT number on your invoice. Contact Customs helpline first and get the requirements from an official source.

But it is easy peasy.

Nah, but contact HMCE anyway and they will tell you what to put on the invoices.

FYI, it's HMRC now (HM Revenue & Customs)....Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise under the same umbrella.
