Agree. Any images you use need to have a purpose. You need to consider the value of the image to the visitor, how it helps meet their needs, generate a lead or provide evidence of your claims.

Putting text on the images is easy. You will need a different slideshow script and have to play with the CSS but it's not an onerous task.

I know what your saying but i think that will be going a bit over board, I was thinking more along the lines of nice piccys with a bit of flash text saying looking for reliable affordable electricians, we are fully registered nice eic elecs, fully insured

you know all the usual crap

and if I was to sort the page with a nice banner it will be better than the competition sites as they pretty much offer zero benefit to the reader,

but I agree to an extent what your saying

I would question the need to have the slides in the centre of your home page?

I could understand if it was on the right (where you have the "Common Questions")

I had it on the right before and then changed my mind,

my intention was to have words with a call to action at the end hoping maybe they would view the slide think oh right there's the number etc

And that's exactly the reason NOT to put it on the site - you don't want to show the 'usual crap' you want something different (and a slide show isn't the answer).

And do you really think they are going to sit and watch your slideshow right to the end?

It's ok I welcome all input danny, I need help trying to think logically at the minute.

I will research the link suggestion when I get a minute.
