    I don't know if the media have glossed this story up a bit so it reads well in the paper but it is worth taking a look if you have a small business that uses Worldpay for taking payments.

    Read it in today's SME (Small to Medium sized Enterprise) section of the Guardian.

    Interesting post Andy,

    I have a little experience of this and have been caught out once or twice.

    But since the Postcode rec stuff came in and using recorded delivery to prevent loses 'in the post' I nailed it, but this was for small value items.

    I wouold not like to be in the big value item game ,TV's etc, without serious cash to cover loses.

    I think it features WorldPay but the problems are the same for all payment service providers, paypal included.

    You do get a feel for fraudulent orders, I'm not going to decribe here how I recognise them for obvious reasons.

    I know lots of other online stores, ourselves included, who were victims of fraud early on but a couple of weeks of rage and gnashing of teeth soon teaches you if an order seems too good then it probably is.

    I think it is about time the police set up a central register where you can report details of fraudulent UK orders and they can build up a database of commonly used addresses so they can make case against these people.

    One of my happier moments was helping to convict a fraudster once. I had reported him to the police in his home town. Very satisfying.

    Not a very nice story to hear.

    I know a lot of people here use worldpay.

    I am even considering them myself as they offer a more 'reputable' service from the customers point of view.

    But the 4-6 weeks is hard on many new businesses.
