I have a website has been #1 for a local phrase for around 9 months now. It dropped a month or so ago after my hosting was infected and the site chucked up loads of 404 errors but apart from that fine and after sorting it out moved back up to #1.
Within the last week or so it has dropped to ~#14, I checked webmaster tools and instead of the usual 30-40 links showing, it showed 288 to my homepage.
All the unexpected links are from different pages on the same domain, a couple of examples are:
Does anyone know what they are and also why they are all showing in GWMT, It usually only shows one or two links per domain in there, not 240. They seem to be very strange urls too, not properly formatted.
I'm presuming these are responsible for the drop but I'm not sure why or how they have happened.
