    Hi, Bit of advice please if anyone can help.

    I have started a Private Limited Company which is non trading at present, whilst I build it up. I am looking for any good accountancy software(shareware/freeware/open source) that anyone can recommend for the purpose of doing my business accounts and presenting them to companies house.

    I am very new to this all and would love some opinions/reviews/links to websites.

    My company was formed about a year ago and even though it is not trading, I still have to think about filing my accounts.

    If it was formed on 25/01/05 does anybody know what date the accounts would need to be submitted to companies house?(i thinks its 22 months for incorpiration date, but will check with companies house).

    Hi Sam,

    Welcome to the forum :D

    Try sending Duane Jackson a PM, he's a member here. He owns Kashflow, his ads on the right, he'll sort you out with accounting software, I believe he does free trials too to see if you like it first, lots on here use him :D

    The others will help with tax stuff in the morning, most are in bed now.

    That's a tricky question if you expect your business to *grow*, as choosing wrongly now will mean changing in the future.

    I chose TASBooks for the following reasons:-

    It's extremely user-friendly to fumble fingered beginners, allowing you to correct mistakes without a lot of tedious rigmarole.

    To the best of my knowledge it's the only accounting software that will allow you to change from VAT Cash Accounting to Standard Accounting without scrapping everything and starting again.

    You can add the Payroll software later, but it integrates perfectly with the accounting package.
