Advice on use of Adwords please?

Hi,

I was looking for some advice using Adwords.

I run a Taxi Fare Calculator website - www.taxiroute.co.uk The basic premise is that people are looking for a price and a taxi company to choose.

At the moment, I don't have enough paying taxi companies to cover the whole of the UK.

So, I have been thinking. Would it be ok to put an adsense panel on the results page whenever an enquiry is made that doesn't return one of my paying taxi companies?

Basically, I want to find out if I might infringe any Adsense rules. When I mentioned this to a friend of mine he says it would be a bad idea as Adense would frown on it and penalise me in Google.

Any thoughts please?

Thanks

I just checked a route from rg8 to Manchester and it returns no taxi companies.
I don't think you'll have any problems with adsense TOS if you insert Google ads on that page. I would just put 1 ad block at the top or on the right hand side.

You can always contact them and ask them if they have any objections. They can be quite helpful (sometimes) and seeing that it's a business website I am 99% sure that you won't have any problems with them but again ask them first just to make sure

another duffers question about adsense......

Do the adverts that display dynamically change depending on the content of the page?

The reason I ask is that ideally, if someone has done, for example, a taxi enquiry in the Manchester area, does the advert dynamically change to include adverts related to Manchester?

Thanks for any help.

Yes as long as you display those words on the page? (Taxi+manchester+ whatever else is related to your business) Once adsense knows what your site is all about you will not have any problems with ad relevancy.

You can also target specific areas on you page by using :

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->
your important keyword rich source code here
<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

That looks perfect... but.... my results page is dynamic and changes for every enquiry....

Do you know where Google changes the results on every page view based on dynamically created content?

Thanks

as far as I know it can be instant or it can be cached. whatever option you end up getting you will still receive "taxi" related ads although maybe not for that particular town that is displayed on your page. you can aways test it and if you don't like it just stop using it and offer banner advertising instead

Whilst I was doing research into SEO I came across some software called Market Samurai and you can download a free trial. The software has among other features a keywork research tool to find out which key words are popular searches but also how much competition there is over certain keywords so you might find it is worth tageting some keywords other than the most obvious too to give you a massive advantage when some one looks for not just the obvious.

one of the rules, is you can not prompt people to click the advert, so if you are telling in text on your page click here or similar and it relates to a google ad, if they see this they will cripple you, :redface: well maybe punish cripple is too harsh a word.

But also its hard to controll what displays, i have put adsense on my electrician site im creating, they state they display ads relevant to your page and not competitors, but i have had ads appear for electrical contractors who are competitors, They display according to your text, i have had sites with the word contact on, and adverts for contact lenses have appeared,

So hopefully that clears things up for you.
