I just couldn't help but notice recently that there has been a sharp increase in posts that contain language that I would associate with a mod or admin.

Whilst I admire the 'Guardian Angles' in America I'm not totally convinced it's needed here :)

I can certain be opinionated in 'Time Out' discussions, for which I apologise.

it wasn't opinionated discussion I was getting at :)

Consider yourself let off with a warning young lad ;)

OK, you're right. I realised after I wrote my response to Liam yesterday (in the Iraq thread) that I'd been heavy-handed. I wanted to correct some factual errors without coming across as arrogant or superior (one of my many faults). This is why I invited him in my next post to please correct me when I am mistaken.

I must say that Liam took it very well. He's a mature guy, and everything he writes points out how well he's going to do in life. One impressive young man.

I literally havent looked at the iraq one for fear of doing the same :) Been in too many iraq debates already, got the scars to prove it!
Well, even if you weren't referring to me, I take your comments to heart. I agree that we should be sensitive to every member, and your post is a good reminder. Clearly, I had a guilty conscience because I automatically looked back at the messages I have posted!

Moderators, please may I be more opinionated than Steve?

What? I am? Gosh, thanks!

Seriously, it would be a sad day if people couldn't express their views while respecting others. And this does not mean everyone having to agree or reach a consensus.

I was mearly raising the issue of over moderation by those who are not entitled to moderate of couse moderation should only be used in moderation as I believe that everthing is ok in moderation.

Becasue some had decidided they thought they were entitled to a larger potion of the moderate moderation then I thought I would raise the issue of moderation.

I'm glad I clarrified that.

I think we're all just getting too bossy!

If this was my forum though, I'd get cheesed off by so many people advising (?) me how it should be run, improved, etc.

Very nice people Ozzy and the mods...

So can you changer the background colours changed to lilac please... NOW. I much prefer lilac to blue.

Thanks.

I think the award for non moderated policing should go to Nigel for his recent spam thread LOL

Huh? Is this thread directed at me, with the opening poster hiding behind the safety of 'generalisation'. Name names, so those who you clearly accuse of adopting a role to which they're not entitled, may offer a reasonable rationale in reply.

If my 'scammers' thread is seen as 'policing', you have totally misinterpreted its content. It was not requesting action of any type, it was merely asking a question - quite reasonably in light of some recent postings - about whether 'forums' are targetted by people looking for a 'quick buck.' I offered concise evidence of what I considered a 'scam' which, incidentally, was later proven to be a scam.

If I were to be censored for this, I would expect it from a moderator (who would identify himself) and not from a fellow member who him/herself is patently adopting the very role they are professing against!

cheers, Nigel

I'm merely raising an issue that I have been victim off, please don't assume that I myself wish to be tarnished with the same brush, no no no!

It's funny how the ones who are least guilty are the ones who have taken it so seriously. Rather like my post about people not replying.

It was meant to be a lighthearted poke :)

Don't worry nige no offence meant :)

I, for one would never take on the Moderators role. For one, they have to read all the cack, and more cack, then the cack gets abusive then they make a decision to lock it , then get slated for it, then receive PM's and then after all that, run businesses and their private lives. Tony Blair has an easier job.

Nic
