Shopping cart for established site

    Hi,

    Hopefully some of you can give me a rough idea of what I need, or what I would need to pay to get what I would like.

    My site is already established and I am using paypal to accept my payments which I would like to continue doing, I am using paypal buttons on my site but their cart, now this is what i would like to change, I would like to have a cart on my site but continue using the site setup as it is layout, buttons etc is this possible?

    I do not wish to go down the route of using zencart or anything similar as everyone I see with one of these seems to be pretty much the same.

    Maybe you could tell me if I am wrong in not wanting to use something like zencart.

    If you would like to look at my current its www.babybots.co.uk although I am in the process of doing a facelift on it.

    Hi Steve

    Magento is a good off the shelf ecommerce solution which I would advise you to look at.

    It can seem a bit daunting but it is IMO head and shoulders above any other opensource software.

    You would be able to keep the existing look of your website (or redesigned site) by integrating it into the standard template system.

    In fact if you are looking at changing you ecommerce and having a facelift I would wait until you have settled on your ecommerce engine else you may end up creating more work for yourself than you need to.

    I am using add to cart buttons.

    Currently it takes you to a cart on paypal, although I would like to continue using paypal for the payments, I would like to have a cart on my site and then pass that onto paypal.

    Hello Steve,

    The Shop Integrator ecommerce plugin toolkit will allow you to do exactly what you have described. Our ecommerce website plugins will replace the basic Pay Pal buttons and shopping basket on your site with a more feature rich shopping basket and online shop. At the final stage when your shopper has put their order together and are ready to pay you, the shopping basket transfers the customer on to the Pay Pal payment page where they enter their debit/credit card payment to make a Pay Pal payment to you, exactly as you are already used to.

    You add the Shop Integrator ecommerce plugins in to your site using the same copy and paste approach as you used to add the PayPal buttons, which means that your site setup and layout may remain the same and there is no software to install or maintain on your web host. However once your ecommerce plugins are in place, you can change your prices, product descriptions, run special offers, change shipping delivery costs etc. through your online admin website without the need to edit your web pages and upload them again to your site.

    There are 18 different ecommerce plugins in the ecommerce toolkit for you to choose from to use when build your online shop, including things like an in-page mini shopping basket, giving your shoppers a running total of their order and number of items in their basket.

    That does indeed look exactly like what I am after :)

    One question though, If I have a product with say 12 colours and three size options, is this catered for in the stock control? so if small red is out of stock it will show that under a single button rather than 36 different buttons being required.

    This would be 1 product with a single button but with each combination of options on that product having an independent stock level, so one product could have 5 Small Red, 30 Medium Red, 0 Large Red (showing as out of stock when the user picks this combination), 5 Small Green etc.
