Hi All,

Ive been asked to supply a copy of my accounts (for last tax year) for a business contract im going for. Am i right i send a copy of my tax return???? I aint goT a clue what to send and it has to be in first thing in the morning.

I do my own self assestment.

Help please

Normally, they will want to see your accounts only. The tax return will show them that you sent the figures to the tax office which reassures them that you have not just made them up. However, the tax return also shows any other income which may not be any of their business.

So what exactly do i send?? My books?? or just figures such as turnover and profit.

How would i set it out.

Proberly simple but im confused.

When looking to win a contract, you should send a copy of your P&L and Balance sheet at the very least. If you haven't really prepared one then get hold of a template and recreate them.

Having it prepared by a qualified accountant will add more clout to your figures but I suspect that your potential customer is following procedure and is more relevant to bigger suppliers. I wouldn't send a tax return, it's pretty unprofessional but I guess it depends on the size of the business you are dealing with.
