Did anyone watch Paul McKenna "How to lose weigth" last night. I did and I liked his concept. I'm following it. Is anyone else.

I registered and my weight is at the moment 11st. 8lbs (74.93KG) let's see if Paul is right and hopfully in three weeks I should be thinner simply by eating when I want and what I want :D

This week you had four golden rules to follow.

1) Eat When you want

I was amazed when someone told me that she was shocked to hear that one of the keys to losing weight and keeping it off was to eat when she was hungry.
‘If I did that,' she told me, ‘I'd never stop.'
Isn't it funny that some people are such experts on what they've never done? It's time to end the self-inflicted torture and listen to your body instead!
Make this commitment:
‘I, promise that, I will eat whenever I'm hungry no matter how I feel about it.'

2) Eat what you want

There are NO forbidden foods in my system – you can eat anything you want any time you are hungry, providing you take the time to really, really enjoy eating it.

Fancy a bit of pasta? GO FOR IT!

Cake and ice cream calling to you? As long as you're actually hungry, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

From this day forward, NOTHING is off-limits to you. Ever!

And if you still really want to say ‘NO' to something, say it to the purveyors of sugar-free low-carb cardboard-tasting rubbish!

3) Eat consciously

Here's a little experiment for you to try:
1 Create a ‘sample platter' with a taste of each of your favourite foods – a bit of warm bread with butter, a slice of sharp cheddar cheese, a bite of a bar of chocolate, a bit of sushi, or anything that makes your mouth water just thinking about it.

2 When you've read through all these instructions, close your eyes and indulge your senses. Smell your food before eating it. See how long you can make each bite last. Most foods actually have more than one taste when you take the time to really savour them. In fact, if you really pay close attention, you will notice the tastes and textures changing as you chew them.

3 Notice which foods become more enjoyable the longer you take to eat them, and any which may become less enjoyable. Try and discover at least one new flavour in each food you sample. Remember, the more you are willing to enjoy each mouthful, the thinner you are becoming!


4) Stop when you think you're full

What's the first sign for you that your body is getting full and satisfied with what you've eaten?

Here are what some of the people on my seminars have said:

I know I'm getting full when my stomach starts to grumble.
I know I'm getting full when the food stops tasting quite so good.
I know I'm getting full when I can't think of anything else I'd like to eat.
I know I'm getting full because I suspect I might be.

What is it for you?

If you're not sure, take some time today to really tune in to your body as you eat and notice what the very first sign of satisfaction and fullness is for you. The more aware of your body's signals you become, the easier it will be for you to not only lose those extra pounds but to keep them off for good!

Ok - I have to admit, I like to think of myself as quite an expert on this one!! My personal trainer introduced me to the whole thing 5 months ago and I have lost alot of weight so far. When I first read it, I was woohooo - here comes the chocolate, crisps and everything else I want. But surprisingly, because I knew I could have it, I completely didn't want it - I guess the forbidden fruit thing is right after all!

Luckily, I do have my trainer on the end of the phone to speak to when I do have a craving - it's usually a hormonal craving and so I know I don't actually need it. But like Chris said, if you want it, then have it. My vice is a Yorkie, but since starting this, I have never managed a full one - as when i'm eating it, if I stop enjoying it, I stop eating it.

I better shut up now before I really start preaching!! But if I can do this system, then anyone can - it's just about forgetting what you have been told in the past and not seeing food as a treat but just as a way to live. :D

I'm giving it a go as well.

I did buy his book last year and didn't bother but it does make a lot of sense so his TV show, in combination with a massive post Christmas spare tire, has motivated me to try it out.

Well me and the missus just had food and we took our time and "savoured the taste" :lol: and in all fairness before we finished we were full and we even left a little over (which we never do). I am still full now.

I hope I lose a stone :D

I really don't understand this.

I have friends who open a pack of biscuits and have to eat the whole lot. Why?

The things Paul McKenna has said are just normal, eat and stop. Or is it just me?

to add to my previous comment i am awful

I am by no means overwieght. Though some think i have a beer belly, i personally argue.

But u know food just does not bother me. I can take it or leave it. Today i ate i think two cheese sandwiches, then dozed off to sleep.
Realising i has a lasagne sitting on the side that would go off if i did not cook it, i got out of bed at 12.30 am to cook it.
It is now cooked but still in the oven. You can tell from the time of posting this is crazy.
Hell with it i will have it for lunch tomorrow.

But there it is again, see cos of my strange eating habits i cannot eat anything much before midday, it makes me sick. I can hold nothing down before then.
Does anyone else have similar experiences?

I know i am terrible like this.

I think you don't know what weight watchers is ...on weight watchers you can eat what you want ...(yes chocolate or crisp or beer !)...
Weight watchers is not a "diet", you just learn to know how big your portion should be and you learn how to eat healthy (eat all your fruits and veg, etc...) and exercice ...which make perfect sense !!

It's true Joanne I have never been to Weight Watchers. Never liked 'em never want to try 'em. I thought though that with Weight Watchers, after you've eaten a chocolate you more or less have to starve yourself the rest of the day which is not good and what I am against. That's just my personal opinion :D

no you don't have to starve yourself for the rest of the day ...you only have the pick the right food so that you don't go over your points for the day..
Some food have no points (mostly vegetables) so you can eat those as much as you want...
also if you do some exercices you can "accumulate" points so you can use then for exemple if you go to the restaurant of for something you fancy...

I know not everybody likes weight watchers (i don't like going to the meetings because you have to pay everytime and it's just older woman) but I like doing the online version...

I think weight watchers is the most healthy option...

In my point of view, any diet like for exemple Atkins diet is bad for you, yes ok it will work for a few months but it can be dangerous for your health...
People have to use their common sense, we all know that fruits and vegs are good for you and that by eating a lot of fast food you will be overweight !!

I would agree that weight watchers is a con, i have met ppl who have folowed the program, as they say watch the pounds fall off you waist.
I think what they failed to mention was they are probably referring to these £'s.

I am sorry for those who think wieght watchers is the best thing since sliced bread. I know they give you some calculator thing that tells you what u can eat of any particular brand of food stuff.
But then i see ppl pulling the damm thing out and taking ten times as long to order food or decide what they want.

I also agree that the Altkins diet is dangerous, though this is why it is only followed for a fortnight or so, but i have seen more ppl lose serious weight on this program. But is this necessary good for them

My wife is a doctor, and one thing she will always say, there is no substitute for a healthy diet and excercise.

As a rule we prefer to eat organic food, and only fresh veg. You aare what you eat at the end of the day.
I even drink those flora yogurts now.

It's a business so it's normal they make you pay !!

I completely agree with this ...that is what I am trying to say...weight watchers is based on this !! The program just make it easier to understand.

I never said that it is the best thing for everybody but I just don't see where the con is !!
People who are going to the meetings (and pay every time) they choose it because they need the support it offers but you don't have to do that...

I just went to 3 meetings the get all the information that I needed and I did it by myself after (I don't need the group support thing)..so no more ££ to pay
It worked for me I lost the pounds slowly but surely ( I did not put the weight back). The faster you loose the pounds (like Atkins) the faster to put them back..I think there was a study a while ago that was done on all the different diet and wieight watchers was the one with the less people putting the weight back...

I am not trying to "sell" it to anyone but if you don't know about something don't just say it's a con without knowing about it !!

If you go on the NHS website they recommend to join Weight Watchers...

You did not explain why you think it is a con ..I'm trying to understand you point of view...and why do you think this is bad (it is a healthy balanced diet so I don't see the problem....) :?:

Don't know why my other post was removed, but this is a genuine diet being promoted by the BBC.

If you follow this diet plan exactly as stated, you will lose up to 10lbs in just 3 days! :D

Well I have been following Paul's advice for just under a week now and I do feel I have more energy and want to do more things. Not sure if I have lost weight as you are not allowed to weigh for 3 weeks but I hope so. Can't wait to see tomorrows episode :D

Whats the view on drinking coffree with the Paul McKenna thing?

I have about 5 mugs of coffee a day, with milk and sugar. Which is probably why I'm about 2 stone overweight.

But I'm not addicted like that woman with the Cola addiction.

Also, is it me, or did this go through the whole pressure point thing really quickly and then not mention it again? I've no idea where I'm meant to be poking now! :)
