Ok my learned friends.

I have had an education on business, i am now going to get some things moving.
One of these is to take someones advise and put time aside for training.
Now which books on business would you guys recommend?
The bookshelves are full of them. I could spend thousands here.
But which of these text are worth the paper they are written on?
Which one offers what it says on the tin

I have bought the apprentice by Sir Alan Sugar, not bad
I have Also bought (today) The complete small Business guide by Collin barrow.
I also have the business books in the dummies series.
But are there any others.
Mattew Kendal, you recommed one called the ten commandments or something? please clarify

On the lines of Bob Dylan's "just tell me where it hurts, and I'll tell you who to call", maybe you should tell us what you'd like to learn or what you'd want the book to help you achieve.

i can see where you coming from, i guess it is rather like asking about books on computing isn't it.

Well ok lets narrow down the interest a little.
Books written by those who have made it. The kind of book where once u have written it you feel inspired and raring to go, you feel as though u could make a success selling ice to eskimos kind of idea.

As you can gather i have not been involved in business for long, i am an IT engineer by trade. So i am eager to catch up with the main stream of reading.

Does this makes sense, or did i lose you at the first paragraph?

Try the books from julian Richer of richer sounds.
I reckon he knows whats what in a very practical sense.

i don't know what they are like by you but near us they have a lousy reputation. very cheap advertised prices but never have anything you want in stock and will not order it for you.
Have always found Superfi a much better business to deal with and certainly more professional.

I'm a big fan of Richer Sounds and have found their service to be excellent.

I had a CD player I bought through them which broke down and they fixed it for free with no problems.

It's great that you want to learn from people who have 'been there' but don't get caught in the trap that most people do - they spend their time doing so much reading and research but miss the one important point ... taking action.

Getting out there and doing it and making mistakes is the best way. By all means do some reading and research but don't get bogged down in it - get out there and make a start!

All the books suggested are worth a read - Branson's for the inspiration and Richer for some examples of practical ideas are one's I'd endorse.

Get books on audio because reading a book is not always convenient. However on audio you can listen while walking, jogging and best of all in your car!

ebooks are great but I always suggest to print them out, that way you can highligh, make notes and you also read twice as past from pape as you do from a screen.
