Any keen photographers out there?

    Hi,

    On my to do list is a photography website, I'm looking at a mix of personal photo storage and stock photography website utelising the domains negatives.co.uk and positives.co.uk.

    If you are a digital camera user could you give me any gripes you have with current services, or any suggestions that would make a betterservice.

    Equally if you are a stock photography creater /user any input that could be offered would be appreciated.

    Thanks Claire,

    the 'stock' side will be a self managed system allowing you to choose royalty levels, etc, etc. Im a considering a managed section though where bulk photos can be dumped across with instructions then they are processed on behalf of the client and readied for sale.

    Well your're asking the wron person as I'm a website designer. But ease of use, security of images from poachers and contemporary style. Most stock sites need a minumum catalog of 300 images to start using you so you could consider that aspect and make it more inclusive.

    Hi,

    I would be interested in hearing of any developments with this, as it is one of my resolutions to get more involved in photography. I use a Canon 300D SLR (which I would highly recommend) and have the domain photographicstyle.co.uk.

    I use a Canon 350D DSLR as a hobby and also for taking photographs for websites that I design. I haven't yet had to use a stock photography site but I may well do in the future.

    It's mainly for Canon users but has many general photography sections and a huge user base. If you ask I am sure you will get some opinions from its members.

    I think I need to purchase a photograph for use in a clients ad' but can't find what I want on the stock image sites I've seen. I thought of bringing in an ad' agency but it seems silly to pay them for a job I can do myself as I did graphic design in a previous (job) life and the stock image is the only be I'm 'stuck on'.
    I've a few ideas re where to source a photo (for example photographers forums) but how can I make double sure that if I purchase something in this manner I have the copyright to use the image in the clients advertising? I would be grateful for any ideas of how best to protect myself. The photo I need is one of a stone farmhouse (but it has to have the right look) I've even thought of posting on a small holders / downsizers/ or house renovation forum to see if anyone wants to sell me a picture of their house...would it be as simple as this if they signed something to say it was ok for me to use the image in adverts?

    I must admit if it was me I would be inclined to find a suitable farm house myself photograph it. I would probably digitally edit it so it was not TOO obvious where it was taken from. I am led to believe that you can take a photograph (and own the copyright) of any building you like as like as you are on public property when you take it.

    You question has prompted me to try and find out if the above statement is really true or just an urban myth. I have posted a question in the legal Forum in the hope that one of our Legal Experts will clarify it:

    i ahve been taking photos for some years now, editing them for fun into the bargain.
    My cameras is always charged wenever i go anywhere. you can never tell.
    Plus with laptop ready to empty the memory card as you are on the move, it all helps

    I could be interesting in selling a few, what sort of price would u have in mind?
