Keeping it Professional or not?

Hi all

I have pondered for sometime on this and have decided now to throw it to the audience.

All here are business people, succcessful or otherwise, new, established.
One thing i try hard to remeber wen i do post within the forum is that i am the Managing Director to my company Easy as it. I also try to remeber to keep things on a professional level, remebering that i am respresenting my company online.
As we know it is not always easy to keep the two separate.

How do you guys feel about this?
I know for many of you, posting comes from the heart. I am not saying mine doesn;t in fact i have been told that it does.

But what are everyone elses views on this?

I like talking to real people and if an MD has a good sense of humour, I like to see that. I am who I am, so don't want to pretend to anyone i'm different. I don't even do that businessy talk to my bank manager, professional to me is a good service and honesty :D

Before I worked in business, I'd have cared more, but it's not how I work and it's not how I want to work with clients. Have a laugh, have a chat and have fun. Ultimately, being professional is in your results.

Why do I feel that Al is trying to suggest that at times we're a tad 'immature' for a business forum? Or even, at times, 'over the top.'

I may be wrong though! I post with regard to what's in my heart when I'm posting. Some may be a serious informative response, some may be a respectfull request for assistance then others may be a light-hearted jovial moment, yet others may be seemingly deep cutting constuctive critique. I acknowledge there is always a reflection upon the organisation we represent, BUT if we're able to stand behind everything we say and do there is no harm, infact usually the opposite, done!
Cheers, Nigel
