Driving lessons as a business expense

I'm toying with the idea of learning to drive and wondering if I can claim it as a business expense?

Visting clients and lugging around equipment isn't easy on public transport!

PS...I'm a sole trader.

Much as I'm the champion of claiming every possible penny, I cannot see how you can get this one past.

Only thing I can think of is get someone to sell you a van with driving lessons thrown in and not itemise the bill. But that is stretching credibility.

Joy: Welcome back!

While we are on the subject :) Is there anything we could do for our apprentice regards paying for driving lessons for him as an expense/training cost???

The main reason I'm thinking about learning to drive is to make things easier for my consultancy work but I'll take your advice on this one. At least I can claim so expenses when it comes to running the car itself.

Thanks for the advice.
