OK I am angry now :x
I joined another forum and in there I posted in the Travel Section "Has anyone been to Wales" I then got this reply:

"Pretty but the poverty and even for non-London Britain the " this ocuntry is finished " feeling gets you"

so I said:

"I don't know when last you visited Wales but I hardly think that it's finished.

With houses costing on average £150,000 I don't think that anyone with no money would be able to live there.

Also Wales has the largest Stadium in Europe and also is home to the new Millenium Centre for all classical arts and the Royal Variety performance was held there with the Queen present.

I'd invited you to think again about Wales being "Finished"

so he said:

"Wales like the most of the entire UK is in permanent decline . There are numerous exceptions to that assertion ( London is magical and we were duly impressed with Manchester ) however the handwriting is clearly on the wall and it reads " HAS BEEN " . Not even the petrodollars fabled North Sea oil have altered the downward spiral . Countries rise and fall , it's just the UK"s turn now .The United States will follow this century with global economic and with that political power heading to Asia "

What would be the gob smacking reply I could give back. He seems more intelligent than me so I need a Kick Ass response :lol:

He's not that intelligent, he has used a quotation mark instead of an apostrophe in UK's.

yes but its the same as with any country.
I personally have not been to wales sinc ei was a kid, something i hope to remeddy this year
There are affluent and not so affluent parts to any country, or city.
This person obv has no idea.
Has he even ever been there?
For the record if he sadiothe same of Scotland i would want to know about it!

I've been to Wales, it looks beautiful, but it rained for the whole week and their is nothing to do when it rains, it's no fun walking in thunderstorms :lol:

Hi Chris,

As a regular visitor Wales can be beautiful in places, decrepid in others.

eg the gower is outstanding, but venture much beyond the Early M4 and I have found the infrastructure needs attenttion, its just not acceptable to have a mess of telegraph and power cables (for example) in a modern Western European country.

It will happen though, over the last years I have seen a change in Cardiff, although rough round the edges, the cityscape has truly been illuminated and this is a credit to political reform which should hopefully chaneg the whole of wales for the better.

The biggest problem is that unless there are drastic changes, the UK as a whole is in a horrific economic position. All economic levels are being forced into decline by the capillary motion of the european and global marketplace. the once booming service industry has been proven to be of feeble underpinnings with work outsourced to other parts of the globe for minimum cost.

With the LSE under attack again, it will not be long before the Dubai SE's and others take the mantle and destroy the financial centre of London.

However, if we adapt, innovate and change the way we view business and external markets then there is some semblence of hope. Then again, its a lot to ask to stay somewhere with bad weather if the opportunities are so great elsewhere.

Who knows, war, disease or natural disaster may help shift the balance back in the UK's favour, either that or Chinas prices increasing due to the toll of damage the uncontrolled developement is taking on the environment.

To be honest with you i agree to some extend with what crus says

There was a time wen we were world leader in education, finance, science, armed forces, business. Hells teeth we even rules the world once!
Now we have fallen behind in the lot. The one thing from my point of view that i think helped assist the decline is greed. Suddenly the culture shifted from no expanse spared just get the job done, to penny pinching.
We still have great business minds, and of course it is SMEs who assist now to make this country what it is.
People like you, and me.

Thr trouble is now, we understand the cost of everything and the value of nothing. It is all about making profit. Even if we upped the standards a little, we could still make on most deals. but commerce chooses not to. Make the mostest for the leastest. And it is due to ppl like that, and the govt they blackmail that we are in the mess we are today!

Also the problem that we sold out crown jewels. Gas, electirc, the rail etc. all the things that were making this country money. Now we have over inflated taxes to compensate for the lack of revenue.

lets not give up on this great nation of ours yet!
And never blame a dog for the fleas that live on it. This is a great nation, and if we all pull together, we can do it.
