Hi everyone

My name is Jane I've been trading on eBay since 2002, I'm an eBay Powerseller and Top Rated Seller and have an eBay featured shop and website.

I am a registered Education Specialist trained by eBay and run an eBay business consultancy service giving SME's a faster, correct route to safe and successful selling on eBay, I give one to one Basics tuition for individuals and existing eBay shop critique along with some eBay listing services too. I love my job.

I hope to give some useful advice to the Forum where possible and in return get some good advice on various topics of business.

I'll warn you I'm rather irritatingly positive at the best of times and a total eBay Anorak

safe and successful selling on eBay,

Is there such a thing lol? I had to turn my back on ebay a year ago. Was the best choice I ever made.

There are pitfalls in any business but set up correctly an eBay business can be a very successful way to boost your sales and customer base.

Many sellers don't use things like the buyer requirements tool that can filter your buyers by certain criteria, this can greatly reduce the amount of troublesome buyers. eBay is more complexed now than it was when I started in 2002 and just like many other places on the web and High Street there are scams about and recognising these scams is the key to avoiding them.

There are many ways to protect yourself on eBay, if I go to any website I can't see how many unsatisfied buyers there have been but eBay sellers wear their reputation on there sleeves. eBay is very high maintenance when it comes to customer service and satisfaction, more so than the High St, you only have to look at the amount of bad feedback given to the new 'Outlet' sellers to see that. These are High St stores with a presence on eBay but without the customer service to back it up. Unfortunately people have a bad buying experience on eBay they tar every seller with the same brush that is 'eBay' rather than xxxLtd or yyyLtd.

Out of interest, what would be the best time and day to list a couple of old mobile phones and some PS3 games, plus some of the clothes the missus hasnt even taken the tags off?

eBay traditionally gets most of it's traffic on a Sunday evening, the best thing to do would be to start a 10 day listing on a Thursday evening, giving it two whole weekends of browsing so it ends on Sunday evening.

Don't let your auction end in the middle of any soaps or reality TV, so think ahead.
