Ebay idiot!

I must be the nicest bloke on ebay. Always civil even when I get idiot customers. But some people really make me want to get in my car and throttle 'em.

Today I get an email from a guy asking where his item as it should have been sent first class. The fact that he ordered it on Sunday and yesterday was a bank holiday obviously doesn't register.

Have I been missing something...has there been a revolution in delivery where items are now beamed to the customers as soon as they pay for them?

You should try talking to our office manager, some of the stuff he has to put up with is hilarious.

Example, woman orders 3 items. Package sent with 2 items and a note stating 1 item to follow shortly. Last item is posted next day by recorded delivery.

A week later husband of woman phones up ranting about never receiving 3rd item, demanding money back and threatening physical abuse and legal action. Office manager explains that 3rd item is showing on the Royal Mail website as attempted delivery, card left.

Woman phones up shortly after continuing verbal ranting claiming the 3rd item was never posted. After 15 minutes of her abusing office manager she then adds "And why have I got a missed delivery card from you?".

Office manager sighs.

Another:

Order placed at 5pm Christmas day, email from punter Boxing day asking for money back because delivery has taken too long.

I could fill an entire thread with examples like these

We get our fair share as well...it used to get to me but now I just sit back, chill out, and think about more pleasurable things in life.

I'm staggered at the number of orders we got on Christmas Day. But I suppose there are a lot of people who don't do Christmas as they are not Christians.

I went into work yesterday and answered the usual five emails from overseas customers demanding to know why their gear didn't arrive for Christmas when they ordered it after last posting date - happens every year, it was like deja vu.

We used to try and contact them before dispatch but they would take so long to get back to us that any chance of getting the gear in time was lost so now we just send it and some of them get it in time, some don't.

I should say we clearly state last posting dates on the site so if they decide to order afterwards we now assume they are aware.

feel sorry for delivery people on the last few days before Xmas. Bad enough withthe vast amount of parcels but bad weather really killed it.
My parcel was stuck in Preston.got from London to Preston in half a day but had to wait two days for it to travel 10 miles.

Speedy delivery. I dont think so.

We get those too but get this -

guy orders item, we send it first class recorded - two weeks later it comes back to us (too big for letterbox & not collected), we call guy - speak to him through his wife and he confirms that he has received it - great item and no problems!

No a cheap item either! Maybe he didn't tell his wife or something? Two months on and we still have it here.

I sent a polite reminder to an ebay purchaser yesterday asking for payment, youd swear I accused her of leaving off the ends of the earth...one of her comments was ' just look at my positive feedback score'.........yeah and?

E-bay is nothing like it used to be. I think they have tried to stop quite a few of the "idiots". But in my eyes e-bay is nothing more than a quick fix for cash, not a long term project

I had a good one just the other day asking where his item was as he expected it the next day (even though the entire country in under 1ft of snow).

He sent the email around midnight and I replied about 00:15am stating that due to the adverse weather conditions there would be a small delay. He then emailed me around 1am thanking me for my speedy response.

I then receive a call around mid-day asking me again where his item was and demanding that i provide him proof that i sent it. However before i could reply he said "if you dont provide me proof i want a full refund"

As soon as he said that something just clicked in my head and i thought f***k this guy. It's my business and im the boss and im not taking any s***t anymore.

To his surprise i said let's just go down the refund route as whatever stops we pull out you'll never be satisfied. The next 30 secs was like tumbleweed....

I knew he really wanted this item as it's more expensive locally and a bit more expensive online. I also knew that the item was in transit and was due to be delivered to him that afternoon.

So i refunded him soon as i put the phone down. Cancelled the delivery and about an hour later then sent him the tracking number of the item showing the item was out for delivery but cancelled.

Im nice as pie with all my customers but this guy just caught me at a bad time, his attitude stunk and he was rude and the best thing i did was to just get rid of him.

I know some of you may think this was harsh and probably say "customer is always right" and i may be stupid to lose the sale but to be honest it was like a weight lifted off my mind knowing i wont have to deal with this idiot again.

To some degree I'd agree with you on that one, it's full of busy fools nowadays which is the main reason I pulled out of ebay after many years.

The other big problem is that buyer expectations are rediculous, not helped by eBay themselves. There's a fine line between trying to improve bad sellers and beating good sellers over the head when they're going above and beyond expectations.

It was the least profitable platform and the most time consuming, closing it and working harder on other venues was a no-brainer move.
