As a mum of two I was just interested to know, which present from your childhood do you remember getting. My two can't really remember what I have bought them over last 5 years, can just about remember last year eventhough I spent a fortune.

I remember gettting a typewriter in like a brown checked case, I thought it was the bees knees. I also remember getting leather rollerboots when ewveryone else had suede, they were yellow, red, white and black. In my teens I remember getting a red *** box (as they were called then, or at least they were in Bolton!)

So what was your best Christmas present as a kid?

Hayles, you have just brought a very distant memory back to me. Does anyone remember the Fisher Price record player with little records that played stuff like Row Row Row your boat?

Also one year I had one of those life size dolls with a white polo neck on and a red kilt. When you held her hand her legs moved as if she was walking.

I got a pair of non-slip reins for my pony. He used to go fast and sweat a lot so it was of great benefit to be able to stop him at last.

Nintendo first generation and Mario Brothers. Man, we played that thing for weeks. No kids then of course.

We must be roughly the same age, becuase I had both of those as pressies as a kid too.
But the best.... my Dad brought home massive cardboard boxes and made a maze of tunnels and caves in the living room one year. Some of them were filled with polystyrene balls like snow. My bro and me had a ball. Bet my Mum or the hoover didn't enjoy it quite so much.

A lot of people will agree with this, I found the cardboard boxes the stuff came in, much more fun. We could play hours with the boxes, our favourite thing was to make them into TV's and we'd do the news
