    hi,

    i was just wandering what peoples opinions are on the domain name

    buyinbulkandsave.com

    has it got appeal on any level?

    i am tinkering with the idea of domains as a sideline to other business,

    i gather its better to wait for domains to expire and try to grab them,

    but surely there are some originals still sitting there for the taking? :|

    depends what you are trying to do with that domain, if your expecting surfers to type that in then forget it (check the keyword tool for evidence)

    A memorable domain, hmmm not one thats easy to remember tbh

    recommend you take a look at domain forums for advice/guidance and your other point, pretty much everything of any value, generics, countries etc has long gone.

    still lots to hand reg but you'll need to do your research and build up slowly over time and not rush into purchases or worthless domains just cos you like them.

    Always think what are you going to do with them.

    some longer domains do sell

    to be honest i think i will find a wholesalers who would purchase these but the profit margin will probably be tiny,

    i think i need to research more. :rolleyes:

    yes, longer domains do sell, but if your a domain seller you have to understand the domain industry, sure you could but it for @£5 and sell it for £50 if the buyer doesn't understand or simply loves the name but those types of buyers would be in the serious minority.

    One thing to remember is that the name is available for a reason, ie no-one wants it, if it was worth something it would of long gone :)

    The domain name is just a small factor in most search engine ranking algorithms, that is not to say it is not important, but there is a lot more you can do to get the keywords that is not dependent on domain name.

    The standard advice nowadays is to go for a brand name, which is made up, and not going down that route for a couple of sites, I have had to fight for the brands, so I can see the appeal in just going for a made up name, that is catchy.

    The classic single word domain names, well they tend to be used more for pumping other sites, and now the search engines are either the homepage or in the browser toolbar, some people don't even use the address bar, and that will tend to drop the value of those domains.

    So domain name dealing, probably not worth it, though if you have fun that's what counts.

    This is a very interesting post. Just a quick one first I brought, buyitonlinhere dot co dot uk so your name is not far off.

    But I would agree with downsouth, I would check with Google Adwords Tool, to see if people are searching using the term you want to buy as a domain name.

    buying in bulk and saving is a commonly done thing i wasnt really considering the seo appeal but for wholesalers it might have seo appeal and to market and point at there site.

    nicepair you were thinking on my wavelength lol

    With domains it's only really the really good one that changes hands for any reasonable value, and I'm talking about good one word dictionary domains with commercial value.

    Outside of those you're really just hoping that someone comes along and wants the domain so bad that they're willing to pay rather than find any alternatives.

    It's a waste of time trying to look for any value in unregistered domains, there are people using software that will spot unregistered dictionary domains before any human could.

    Even with dropping domains full time domainers buy in lists of expiring domains on a daily basis and then use their own custom written software to attempt to register the domain several times a second until it finally drops. Unless you're using scripts and have a nominet tag then you're probably going to miss out any any good domains.

    theres a good domain due to drop april may time, i had come accross it due to my own business interests, i do not have the technology to grab it but there are 3 big companies that are experts in this area, the only issue is you have to pay them commision im still researching at the minute though.

    according to people on here they have brokers who advertise loads of there names they have registered and do make a profit.

    i think i will sell this one personally buyinbulkandsave.com im trying to think the glass is half full rather than half empty

    If you know of something due to drop then your best chance is to contact the owner beforehand and make them an offer for a transfer before it expires. If the domain is any good you can be sure others are already doing the same.
