A bit of an open ended question I agree, but if anyone could take half a minute to list their major areas of expense it would help with some research I'm doing about where to target some advertising.

So far, we have spent only when absolutely necessary. If it's something we can do ourselves, we do it. (Hopefully that will change over time.) This does not mean, however, that I'm not willing to spend.

1) When we really must purchase something, we purchase quality. It would be a false economy to buy something that is cheap.

2) I make a point of recognizing those individuals who help us the most. For example, I paid for three people and their families to go to Disney World for a couple of days. This may sound very odd when we are so short on cash, but I want partners and friends to realize how grateful I am when they go the extra mile for us.

Staff, raw materials (food stuffs), packaging (boxes for hampers, fancy boxes for Choc Logs etc, bags), Christmas Decorations (For on top of Christmas Cakes), Christmas Cards for customers :D

Here I'm on about everyones salaries. In terms of out-goingings (and discounting tax since that's not really ours to begin with), I would say they cover 80%+ of all outgoings in a given year.

That said though, we sell what's in our peoples minds (well that which is safe for public consumption), so there is no stock to consider. Rent and rates aren't too awful where we are, computers last a fair little while so it's always going to be like that.

postage costs are annoying, also packing materials, thinking of saving for a wholesale lot.

payment processing fees are annoying also. i currently spend ~12k a year on this and while small its money id rather put towards marketing. going to try and negotiate a new deal with my payment provider when our contract comes up, have had my eye on a few providers and even thinking of cutting out the psp altogether and bringing everything in house.

My yearly turnover must be officially 'piddly'.
