Sponsorship needed (5-10k) Living TV show

Hello,

I run a TV production company with my partner. We are newly launched and we are currently in talks with GMTV, BBC Switch and Current TV - to make content for broadcast in 2010.

Our first project is for Living TV. We have created a celebrity news show. (It's a behind-the-scenes look at the celebrity party scene in London. We'll be filming at film premieres, awards, parties and launches.)

The show will broadcast on Living TV's new online channel, Liv.
NOTE ** I can't post the link to the Virgin Media (Living TV's) press
release about "Liv" as I am a new forum member. But, basically it's the first online TV channel by a major broadcaster. The TV shows on "Liv" will also broadcast via: a Facebook channel, on Bebo and via IPC magazine websites including:
Marie Claire, Now, In-Style, Look etc. If you would like to see the link to
Living's press release on "Liv" then please drop me an e-mail or google:
Living TV; Virgin Media: Liv; Press Release.

We are looking for a sponsor to contribute to the costs of production and publicity. We would require 5-10k of funds to complete a 6 week run - with a view to extending to 20 weeks. (Living are keen to run to 20.)

As the show contains celebrity interviews and exclusives we expect the show to be 'noisy' and this will ensure lots of hits to the website and exposure for the sponsor. We would run a "...... Proud Sponsors of...."
slate during the opening titles and closing credits of the show.
During the shooting of our pilot episode we obtained an exclusive Cheryl Cole quote from Brian Friedman (X Factor) which the London Lite purchased as their lead showbiz story. (We expect this to be the norm as the show grows and in the future these exclusives will run in the Mirror
newspaper with a plug for the show, to create more hits.)

** If you would like to see the pilot episode and the London Lite story please e-mail me : ruthATrezdevelopmentDOTcoDOTuk
(I can't post my e-mail address either, sorry! You can't post URL's on this forum if you're new.))

Also, if you require any further information on this opportunity, please do get in touch.

Living TV can meet with you to discuss the benefits of sponsorship
and what we can offer in return.

We believe the show will be incredibly popular so this is a very good marketing opportunity for the right sponsor. Companies/brands aimed at females, aged 18-40 years would most benefit from the link to this show.

Thank you for listening.

Ruth B
Executive Producer

Frankly, nothing you've written here makes the slightest bit of sense to me... But mind you, I've only worked in TV for 30 years...

£5K-£10K in terms of a production budget is a tiny drop in the ocean. It would go nowhere towards equipping a production crew (ours routinely carry £25K-£30K of kit) obtaining clearances, transport, post production...

And I've really no idea why the production company would be doing the work of the broadcaster's advertising sales department... Have you an actual commission or haven't you?

Thank You

If you messaged me privately on this thank you. I will get back to you all asap!
As for the questioner, if you have worked in TV for 30 years then I doubt you will understand the way that online TV works.
It's a new medium and it works very differently to standard programme making.

You can make 3.5 mins of television x 6/8 for 10k!

Online TV is the future. Within ten years we will all watching TV this way. Even those that have worked in TV for 30 years.

Do you really???

Lord oh lord do we get them here!!!

I'm a legitimate broadcast professional, with, as I say, over 30 years experience in the industry. And have run my own production company for over 23 years... If you bothered doing a little legwork you'd also find that I'm a lecturer in TV production, and a consultant to the SQA.

I'm frighteningly well aware of how online TV works. It's my job to know about these things as I'm directly responsible for sending young producers out to work on new and emerging platforms...

I'll refer the ladies and gentlemen of the forum to a certain Miss Dunbar...

Virign Media Press Release

LIVING makes TV history with first online TV channel – Liv

LIVING is transforming the world of entertainment with the launch of Liv– the UK’s first online TV channel delivering free, exclusively commissioned and acquired short-form content everyday on the web.
Liv will truly bring linear TV into the online space in a way that goes beyond anything currently available. Liv will be accessed through leading websites and social media platforms from all corners of the web through a host of strategic syndication partnerships that will extend the LIVING brand fully outside of the digital TV space for the first time.

Liv will launch with a brand new twice daily celebrity news show commissioned from production company Rockabox. The show, Liv for gossip, will bring viewers the hottest celebrity news first in the UK thanks to a ground-breaking content deal with Big Pictures which gives the channel a 12 hour exclusive window for their global video footage from LA, to Sydney, New York to London. At launch Liv will have two other main content pillars including style and beauty content and LIVING programme extensions. Further content pillars are currently in development.

The Liv web takeover kicks off at launch on 23rd October initially on Living TV's website and via media partner IPC. IPC’s magazine portfolio, which dominates UK newsstands with 29.4% of the market, will host the channel online, ensuring that Liv becomes an online entertainment destination from day one. Viewers will also be able to access Liv from its dedicated YouTube channel as well as downloading it via a Facebook application which allows users to share and interact with Liv content. Liv is looking at developing its syndication partners further and is in talks with a range of publishing companies and social media partners.

Liv will also provide a vast array of opportunities for advertisers from simple banner ads through to promotions and ad-funded shows. Future opportunities for brand extensions and ad funded content are currently being explored by the channel team.

Each channel within Liv will only screen bespoke content created solely for the channel; no recycling and no reruns, under four themes:
Celebs – Liv will be the new home for celebrity gossip online with every angle of celebrity covered. Get the inside track from celebs talking about other celebs to the twice daily show bringing the latest exclusive video footage from around the world.
Style – gives viewers unique access to all things style and beauty related. Includes specifically commissioned shows the first of which, Dress famous Liv famous, sees one of Britain’s Next Top Model’s most popular contestants Jade McSorley giving celebrity style makeovers to members of the public.
Bite Me – brings exclusive previews and extensions of LIVING shows to the small screen with channel favourites including Four Weddings and Dating in the Dark.
Popular – for those with no time to browse, this pillar will create a playlist, pulling together the top rating videos of the week from Liv.
Liv has been created by LIVING’s in-house team and will operate under the leadership of Amy Barham. The team also includes new appointments Rebecca Suter as Content Editor and Alex Ayling as Commissioning Executive. Amy Barham, Channel Editor, LIV said: “Liv is a true innovation in broadcasting, it is not simply moving LIVING online or an extension of Livingtv.co.uk, it is a complete channel in its own right that gives viewers short form bursts of entertainment that they cannot get anywhere else. The move from linear to digital is one that broadcasters are struggling to come to terms with, but we have created a smart solution to the revenues challenges we are all facing. With Liv we have a very clear, strong editorial direction which is single-mindedly focused on our viewers and what they want to see.”

Virgin Media Television’s Director of Television Claudia Rosencrantz commented: “LIVING is one of the UK’s most recognised and powerful TV brands but we believe it has the potential to go beyond this and be a leading entertainment brand on every screen. Liv is the first step in taking the brand beyond TV and I am extremely excited about the creative and commercial opportunities that Liv presents.”

Yeah yeah yeah we heard all that....

So? What? you can cut and paste from a press release???

We're impressed.... Except...

You post under an alias, the domain your asking people to email you at has a parked website associted with it, your blog's blank...

And what you're asking for makes NO sense... Don't give me the 'I don't know how online TV works' crap; you're dealing with a legitimate, seasoned professional.... And I know EXACTLY how TV commissioning works! On all sorts of levels...

As Ms Dunbar puts it... I smell $hite!

I'll repeat the question you avoided.... HAVE you a commision or haven't you?

Jeez, you're all taking this rather personally. I can find our sponsor elsewhere.

Au revoir.

Thanks to all that have been messaging me. I will be in touch tomorrow.

Seriously, what do you expect?

You come on here telling someone who's been in the job for three decades they don't know how a branch of their own trade works?

You're asking people for money to complete a show... And effectively selling advertising on that show; which isn't the producer's job!...

....But won't answer the simple question

DO YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A COMMISSION OR NOT?

You open your post with all this cack about pitching for broadcast.. This just isn't how broadcast television works...

So far what we've had is a half-baked pitch for a show that doesn't actually seem to have a commission. A website with nothing on it. And a bit of random cut-and-paste blurb that proves nothing about the veracity of your claims...

Over to oor Karen again methinks...
