Label Program advice?

Hi all,

I am wanting to maintain a database or 'address book' of clients details for future mail-outs etc. I am not well versed in this area; is there a seperate program required that will be better than having to input all my info into Microsoft Exchange?

Note: At present I don't have the info. on computer, so I will be starting from scratch no matter what is suggested.

Nigel, If you don't know how to create a database, drop me a PM with the fields you need in the database and I can have you one created before you can say 'first for fuss free fencing' ;)

You can then use this database to create a label mail merge in MS Word which you can save and then simply print out when your doing the mail shot to clients.

If you plan to do the mailshot in Word, then you can use your outlook contacts as a data file... or you can create a datafile in Excel.

'Tin' is the nickname I used on Lloyds TSB.

I used to respond to posts by members on the Lloyds site when they were asking questions related to getting good rankings on Google Yahoo etc. I'd often offer a free no strings attached chat over the phone to business owners in which I give them straight forward advice as to how they could help make their rankings much better..... you were one of the many that took up my offer but the forum closed shortly after we spoke.

By the way I'm moving my business banking away from Lloyds, I've not been happy with them for a long while.

Hope all's well with you and nice to see you promoting your business again.

John passed me the info and I think it would be perfect for you. The software only costs $45 and is like a clever to do list with an address book, etc. You can try it free for 30 days too.

Sounds to me like you should consider CRM software, which will enable you to do a lot more than just organise mailshots.

Are you working alone or do you want this data available across a network? Networking will be more complicated.

Rather than pay money for licence fees, there are a couple of opensource programs that are highly regarded: Sugar CRM and XRMS. You will probably need to pay someone to set these up, but if you want to be networked you will probably need to pay someone anyway.

PM me if you want details of a good consultant to do this.

DesignProLite from the Avery website. It's free, creates great labels (obviously being Avery) and have a database built in.

I like this program, but I don't use the database. I had a quick look and it seems good enough!

Oh yes, Ray, I remember you now and a very helpful chat that was too. I might be able to use your services as I get lots of requests for SEO.

I tried logging into the S4B site one day and it had gone! I'm also closing & moving my LloydsTSB accounts as they're a bit expensive.

Thought you'd remember Anne. Yes, it was a shame Lloyds pulled that members forum there was quite a nice community there albeit a small one.

I'm finding them expensive too and they couldn't compete when I was looking for an e-commerce merchant account, I eventually went with Barclays.

Anyway, nice to chat again and if you get any seo enquiries just throw them a line. Good luck and take care.

Thanks for the good advice and recommendations. I'll check the Avery site first and pass on my comments later.

By the way, I'm so happy my thread assisted Anne and Tin rekindle their long lost friendship. :wink:
