Struggling to convert sales.....

Hi All,
Basically I am trying a test adwords campaign to see if my website is convertable, but it doesn't seem to be after 90 fairly targetted visitors. I do know that I have fairly low product range and limited sizes in stock for this particular campaign but I wouldn't have thought this would be the only factor

I am wondering if it's something on my website that is untrustworthy or a problem. If anyone could take a look and let me know if you can see a problem with anything or any other tips to possibly increase conversion on it I'd be grateful. Just looking for that first sale to give me piece of mind that my adwords campaign is working

My Google Analytics shows that that around 3 quarters of traffic leave at the landing page with probably around a quarter clicking through to product and then leaving....

I would have some issues if i landed on that page:
Logo - doesnt have your domain name but what i presume is your old name - going off the fact your news section says you have changed name.
The news bit im just not into but thats probably more of a personal choice.
Also the writing at the top, to me it seems like you may have put that for SEO, look at the big shops, they dont do that so im ondering why you have, it also leaves your images below the first bit of the screen your customers see.

Thats just my opinion and im by no means a guru my conversion rates are probably as low as yours but i appreciated the feedback i received on my site so thought i would share the love.

This would put almost everyone off from buying from you, no offence but if you cannot trade with legal DSR T+C's you shouldn't be trading at all. I didn't bother looking beyond this, but I'm sure there will be a lot more, such as the colour scheme.

Well that's your first problem. Targetted PPC visitors shouldn't be landing on the homepage. Targetted visitors should be landing on the product pages.

It looks and feels like a cheap, cookie cutter, ecommerce package for a business run from your spare room. Sorry 'bout that but I suspect that's what your PPC visitors will think as well.

I agree with this. Its one of those things you pick up over time but if your promoting something then you cant expect the buyer to go looking for it.

I can see where he is coming from with this but i think with the changes i suggested it would change that.
On a side note i think if feedback has been requested, it is easy to give all the negatives, we should be offering constructive feedback.

Selling on-line is about trust, creating enough of it for a visitor to have confidence in the shop and owners to hand over their card details ahead of receiving their order.

Statements like this one not only destroy any confidence in your business, but as fisicx suggested it gives the impression of a young lad running it from his bedroom (as does the open source link at the bottom of the shop).

Not only that but could never enforce that policy, by law you are ENTIRELY liable for delivering orders to your customers.

I suggest you start by reading up on the Distance Selling Regulations first so you understand your obligations as a retailer.

I agree but this could easily turn into a website review which isn't permitted for free members.

Where does it say this on my site? I am trading with the legal DSR according to my T&C, can you point mne to the page where it says that?

Hi Fisicx, I was worried about your comments lol. Can you let me know why you think the website looks like a bedroom based business, anything that looks unproffessional? I am happy to make changes to make things look better. Regarding the landing page I have had mixed reaction on this, where people have said it's better to land on a range of the targetted product, some say its better to land on a single product.

Thanks for your comments Tony, I'ts a tough process renaming why site the database has to be coppied over and is a little complicated but I am working on that. Your other suggestions seem good which i will look to change.

There are lots of little clues. The poor zencart skinning, add to cart buttons, inconsistent styling, the fact you call yourself a reseller, the disconnect between the page titles, URL and domain name in the header, the unbranded phones. It just looks and feels like a back bedroom set up.

If 75% of your visitors are bouncing straight off the homepage then that indicates the PPC isn't poropery targetted or your visitors don't like your site. Have your tried sending your visitors to the product pages to see if that makes a difference?

Note: if this thread turns into a website review it will disappear into the private members area.

Appreciate your comments and understand about the review things thanks for the heads up. Will look at changing some of these.

I have tried the product page targeting but it didn't work, someone has suggested my keywords are a little bit broad and may be better trying say red armani t shirt and send them to the red t shirt product page, but I was just worried of the lack of traffic to that page, but I am going to try it see if it works

To turn this into a profitable e-commerce website there are lots of things that need doing. It looks unprofessional at the moment.

My advice is to halt your PPC campaign until you've had a professional website audit to identify the key issues. Visitors need to see what your advert promised of your landing page within seconds.

I am sure any number of people on here can provide you with an audit, but you have had plenty of things mention on here already.

Think of it from the punters point of view.

No one likes to click more than they have to. So for you to have one domain/website leading to another, is one click too many already.

Have the shop as one site.

For me it also smack of dodginess ( a technical term:) ) As I will think why has this comapny got two domain names, why am I being taken away from the website I was wanting to buy from.

The shopping cart is cheap and cheerful, possibly SEO'd badly (haven't looked at ).

Why not look at what other printed bags companies are doing, or any other e-commerce sites of companies you know, then you can see in terms of style and layout what yours isn't.

Look at the menu for a start, mouse over is all well and good, but your mouseover means the menu items turns white and disappears. Mouseover effect should be highlight not low light.

Then even worse look at the mouseover effect on the products, mouseover white, page background white...so no text can be viewed.

When people come to a e-commerce site they tend to be looking for something, so get the products up in their face...or at least eye level. Having to read through a load of text is not what I am looking to buy.

Have catches, 'FREE DELIVERY', 'SAVE THE PLANET ONE BAG AT A TIME' that sort of thing!!

Just had a look at 'Duffle Plastic Carrier Bags' and there is none, so get rid of all pages without products.

An e-commerce site tends to mean you are selling products/services online, whereas all your products seem to be 'contact us for price information'

That immediately sends people esle where as they want to buy online not necessarily email someone. Although I grant you, I tend to phone if I am going to buy.

But visitors want prices...what's it going to cost.

If they can only find out prices by emailing, then they might as well just get the Yellow Pages and start trawelling through there.

ONce again what are your competitors doing.

Anyway, just a few thoughts, sorry if it is a bit hard.... :)

ooppsss sorry I was looking at your printed bag/signify site!!!

The comment remain true for them.

As for the other

Not very professional looking
No or bad use of titles/META descriptions
No footer menu
Home page too deep, get the products up to eye level.
The pages seem to take forever to open, but that might be because I am on a steam powered abacus, with equivalent internet connection

The actual product pages are too deep as well, I only see the top 1/4 of an ipod, and yet there is yards of white space above the product image.

I can't enter in my 'state/province', perhaps you should change to county...I have just noticed what the drop down says...get rid of that, as it is confusing.

And thats without pointing out the design/layout/feel of the website is un-professional, which I think has been pointed out already.

AS with the other websites I commented on, there is a hell of a lot of work, to get the site competitive. And this websites niche is a hundred times more competitive than your printed bags.

Once again look at your competitors on Google, look at companies house for trading records (obviously not all e-commerce companies are stand alone websites so the financial records can be misleading) to see who is successful and who isn't. To see what a good design, layout, high rank...can mean...a better conversion.

Which equal loads of wongo :)
