Hi guys, for some reason today, I am getting mixed results, started at about 3pm.

Some tools are saying my homepage has a PR4 like it has had for a few months now, but others have just started saying PR0, and saying that PR is invalid, or PR is fake.

This is only hapening with the homepage, and not the rest of the site. I know there was a PR update last week, and up till now my homepage stayed at a PR4.

It looks like the site / page is ok with Google, as the pages are still in the SERPS.

Not too sure whats going on. I have tried it on digpagerank.com & this is the result http://www.digpagerank.com/index.php...tive.com&dc=18

most of the datacentres show "OFF" as a result, while others show PR4 as a result.

Is there something going on that I have missed?

Yeah the google toolbar gives my wrong results daily for me... see if it calms down today... you'll probably find it does

Yeah, I agree. It does that all the time, check it again a little bit later.

PR is just a bit of fun - it's entertainment and part of Google's viral marketing.

Never link for green pixels, but do link for targeted traffic.

Looks to me like there has been a PR update. I am seeing a few changes.

When there is a PR update, your tool may show different results as many of them use different data-centres, which are not synchronised.

Seems like there has been. All part of Google's "Caffeine" update, originally scheduled for Sept 09 and currently in roll-out mode throughout November. Besides, PR is not a true metric to go on - as it's updated every 3-9 months. Best to use SEOMoz (MozTrust) metrics IMO. ;)

Also, just noticed that my SEOBOOK toolbar is stating that my domain exists since 05/2002, when i bought the domain brand new August last year, so either tools are working in a funny way, or something is going on here.

Not sure, but still looking into it... Positions have all stayed on page 1 though, so not too bothered at the moment.

Hey!

Google is killing PR. Stop worrying about it! It doesnt mean anything.

Quote:

Google has quietly gotten rid of PageRank in Webmaster Tools. Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable points to a thread featuring an explanation from Google Webmaster Trends Analyst Susan Moskwa.

"We've been telling people for a long time that they shouldn't focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think it's the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true," says Moskwa. "We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it."

I can't post URLs but if you Google "google ditching PR" you will find tons of info.

Cheers

Thats what it shows for my site, although most of my inner pages are pr3, p4, and now homepage on some tools shows, pr4 like usual, and pr0 on others. Very confusing.

I know pr is just an ego boost rather than real rankings, as I am still on page 1 for all my major keywords, but.... Its nice to have a nice car, even though an old rust bucket will get you from A - B. You know what I mean.

Just checked my PR and its coming up fine now as a PR4. Not sure what happened there for a few days, think my toolbar went on holiday for a few days.
