Designing Work Experience?

you're never too young to start. Please read my post to Liam.
As a generalisation, young adults your age are far more mature and confident than my friends and I were at tha age some 30 years ago. When I observe your peers in general I really do admire some of their characteristics that come to light. They have the ability to question the norm and do so with great reasoning and skill, and they have the courage to strive to achieve what they expect.

i agree with a lot of the points about age. i also made a couple of points to Liam about it

i am 30 now (feeling alot older) but have been involved in business in one way or another since being 15 and every new development, success or failure just helps you learn and develop

the businesses i had when younger were right for the age i was but i would not have been able to run the businesses i have now had it not been for the experience i gained in earlier years

it is good and a refreshing change to hear from young people with this sort of mature outlook and a desire to achieve something. much better than being a chav sat in a bus stop drinking bacardi breezers (or whatever beverage is in style now)

Welcome to the forums.

There are all sorts of areas you could work as a graphic designer - from designing magazines to working for an advertising agency. It all depends on what kind of design you enjoy the most. Are you studying design at school?

If it is the kind of thing you want to get into it is worth getting a portfolio in action now really! Start by just mucking around with designing flyers or choosing layouts in magazines you like and trying to copy them. You can then ask around to see if any local companies would be interested in outsourcing work to you.

Also try websites like Viewcreatives and freelancers.net for people looking for freelance help. If you want any other advice or want to ask questions just give me a shout.

I am 23 and attended the first day of a new part time course today. A few people were commenting about how young I was. However I managed to to raise interest in my as a web developer and sold myself well to people more than twice my age.

I have a strange believe that if you start young you have more chance of sucess becuase you have much less risks. Do you need to be very mature and have a lot of good common sense though.

My cousin is 20 and he runs his own sucessful sweet shop so you're never too young. He started it from scratch as well.

I have been developing websites for seven years now so I feel I have the experience. I also had my first business when I was 14, I bought old PCs, stuck them in new cases, wrote a simple GUI for them and sold them on for £100 profit.

Sadly that market no longer exists, but for a while I was the richest person in my class, my parents got really sick of it though and pulled the plug on it becuase it was actually ilegal (the PCs had no operating system licences!).

Every single peice of software on my PC is legal now though .

To be honest the fact you have come on here at 14 is fantastic it shows how resourceful you are.

What ever you do though don't let it make your studies suffer becuase you need to wellish at school to have somthing to fall back on.
