Hi local forum members.
Through my local networking group, and the chamber and contacts at wigan council I got to here about the "Bigger business program" being funded by wigan council. Essentially Wigan council have made a huge commitment to keeping as much of their £3bn per year spend within the local economy and are looking to engage more with the local small businesses within the area who can provide the same services they have been purchasing from the huge nationals for less, or more accurately better value for money.
Wigan have recently appointed a company to run the program and deliver a number of events and initiatives aimed at creating engagement with business in our borough. They are running a number of events to promote this at the Leigh Park inn and the Oak Hotel in Wigan.
We have only met the people running this twice and it's resulted in us applying for 7 new public sector contracts (not just with Wigan) worth over £2m..
So if your a business in the Wigan Leigh or surrounding areas you need to hear about this..
If you need any more info about this PM me and I will put you in touch with the person running the scheme..
What do I get.. Same as all of you.. The way out of recession locally is for businesses to combine effort and help each other.. Generate business and create jobs..
Cheers
Phil
