Checkout for oscommerce

The checkout process seems a bit long winded, I have seen it mentioned that I could create an account behind the scenes from the info they give........how??
In my experience its better to focus on making the front end checkout as clean as poss and if you need to do it for a customer, you just use the front end as well.
I have done a nice one page checkout system for osC, PM me if you want an example site running it
